New Bits and Pieces

10 September 2010

There are some new additions to The Storybook Rabbit this week. I’m trying out some pencil holder glasses, trinket boxes and also some new characters on beautiful vintage plates (some of my favourites, ever). You can check them all out here. And you can also become a fan of  them on Facebook (yay!) here. There will be lots of new things coming in the next few weeks, as Lynds and I gear up for Melbourne Finders Keepers and also as I try to entertain myself while my lovely man is off galavanting around Germany (Boo!) Colour Me Happy

19 July 2010

Last week I was lucky enough to take part in a week long watercolour course with the lovely John Wells at SCA. His classes were very relaxed and despite the fact I was painting vintage bambis and pet bunnies (this was something everyone was very curious about, and for the record: No, I don’t have any kids, I JUST LIKE ANIMALS!) when all the other ladies were painting far- away holiday destinations and daisy fields, he did a great job feigning an interest in my pastel coloured creations. I have dabbled in painting before but doing something like this is a great way to learn a proper technique and pick up little tips and tricks from the people around you. Here is a few of my completed projects from last week. Kx

Fox and Owl

2 July 2010

bunnydoll

bunnybrooch1Ok, possibly some of the cutest things I’ve ever seen in my search for all things bunny-related. Fox and Owl doesn’t appear to actually have many foxes or owls, but these two bunnies sure caught my eye! Check out their etsy shop for a small selection of super cute things.

Brisbane and The Finders Keepers

1 July 2010

Last weekend was the 2nd Brisbane Finders Keepers Market, which we were lucky enough to be part of. Brisbane is a pretty interesting place, very different to Sydney and the weather is much nicer than it is here at the moment! Here is us (minus Trev taking the photo) on the plane!

And luckily Ben bought along his new ipad to entertain us (and the surrounding passengers) on the trip down there.

This was a cool deer man sculpture on the street which made me laugh, because he looks like he’s waiting to cross the road!

The vintage shops and antique centres were probably my favourite thing we saw in Brisbane. They were packed with really cool stuff I could have easily filled my suitcase with.

Unfortunately this carousel pig wouldn’t fit, because he was amazingly scary and beautiful. There was also lots of great dresses and accessories, but nothing so amazing I needed to buy it.

These miniature bunnies on the other hand, I couldn’t possibly leave without buying to add to my collection.

And this was my find of the trip, an amazing vintage tea cup and saucer with deer, giraffe and a squirrel for only $2 from Vinnies!

This was a great little cafe we found after it was featured in Frankie Mag. They did great coffee and amazing raisin toast and caramel nut muffins!

This is a photo of the beautiful grounds of The Old Museum where the Finders Keepers were held.

Juno update

14 June 2010

Some random Juno photos because I got her desexed last week and she’s been even more mischievous than usual, pulling her stitches out on the first day & gorging herself on basil (guilt-fed to her by me).

juno1

Except for when the heater is on and her favourite spot on the couch is free, she is then more than happy to sit looking like a little puff ball of velvety fur and just enjoy the heat.

juno4Mum made me a mini chain scarf for my birthday, it was meant to be for my ceramic deers but I couldn’t resist trying it on Juno for size. She basically just tried to eat it the second it was on, as you can tell from the photo. But if you like it, you can get a person-sized scarf at the winterland markets we’re doing next month, mum’s been very busy knitting and hand-dying some really great colours and these babies sell out pretty quickly! I’ve just added a whole bunch of new wooden framed brooches, plates and mini framed prints to my Storybook Rabbit etsy shop. Have a look, I’d love to know what you all think!

On another bunny related note, here is Miss Juno, enjoying winter (and more importantly, being in front of the heater). She makes me laugh daily, I love her so. Kx
