Living Liverpool Exhibition

Our very talented friend Anney took part in this exhibition that Lynds and I went down to on friday night. “Living Liverpool” was a collection of artworks done by locals to celebrate 200 years of establishment in the area. Anney and I have been friends for a few years now, after suffering together while working at Spotlight. Anney, as you can see is so very clever and every new work of hers I see inspires me!

These are the three works she had on show on the night, inspired by the Princess and the Pea, Wizard of Oz and Cinderella. I absolutely LOVE them, but the princess is my favourite! Other works like this:

guts

And this were also on show by other artists. I’m not too sure on the meaning, but the stocking stuffer people scare me! Someone told me the man and the meat represent how Liverpool Hospital feels like a meat market and how they treat you like an animal. Mmm inspiring or what! You can see why I think Anney’s were the best and most positive pieces there!

This is Anney (left) and her sister Mechelle, who is also extremely talented and has a show coming up at Kinokuniya sometime soon! They dressed in these amazing floral 80’s prom dresses on the night and had so many people come up and comment on their outfits.

And Mechelle had this amazing petticoat underneath her dress! I have a bit of a soft spot for petticoats too, so this made my night! All in all the artworks were really interesting and it’s pretty clear that no matter what area you live in, there are always so many talented people around you. Kx

10 things I hate about you, Money.

Here are ten things I’m dreaming of owning if my funds permitted me to do so.

deery

Obviously, a baby deer is out of the question, but this print, is not.

isabella

And neither is this one. Bunnies and swans, for goodness sake, what more could a girl ask for.

paws

lamby

I’ve blogged about the amazing Mon Petit Fantome before, and these two prints in his etsy store make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

deery2

This vintage deer. Like a velveteen rabbit only cuter.

bewitched

This original Caitlin Shearer painting. Love it.

greenrabbit

This funny little felted rabbit.

cakeland

This print is by Justin Richel and makes me want to bake.

bunnytin

As does this bunny tin!

pinwheels

And these little paper pinwheels you can buy from this super cool baking supply etsy store.

birdbelt

And finally this Marc Jacobs Birdy belt. Oh how I love you.

Ok, technically I think that’s eleven, but I couldn’t decide :) Kx

Kino Bake Fair

cupcakes

teacup
lyndsnut

On Saturday we went down to Kinokuniya for their Bake Fair. My super talented friends Anney and Mechelle had a stall and had made some amazing looking and tasting treats. Amongst the best were pistachio and rosewater cupcakes, hand sewn aprons, donut toys and our personal favourites, hand drawn crockery. We couldn’t resist the red and white teacups, which are all designed and drawn by Mechelle on vintage crockery. Mine has taken pride of place on my shelf, because its way too pretty to use. Kx

Sexy Librarian

Sexy Librarian might sound like every boys fantasy, but actually it is the name of my lovely and talented friend Anney’s exhibition which was held at Kinokuniya last thursday night. There was cute paintings and cupcakes all around. I loved the painting of the iced vovos best!

The Best Thing That Happened Today

Slow Loris Drawing

Kell turned up at my place and she had drawn these AMAZING little Slow Loris drawings (she may have noticed my recent obsession with these super cute creatures?). We may have to make him into a brooch I think. I still want one as a pet, shame we can’t have cool animals like this for pets in Australia!

We have also discovered another animal that is much better than a possum, it’s called a Tarsier, I want one of these too! This is a great video, I love the way he chews – too cute!

Sharpie Pens

Sharpies

This is my Sharpie collection – what did we ever do without them, Artline texters boo! Is it possible to have too many Sharpies? The answer to this is NO. Everytime I visit Office Works I’m confronted with the question of do i need a new Sharpie? They always place them right near the checkout so that while you are waiting this question crops into your head. The answer to this is YES I do! Hence how I ended up with so many! Lx

Liz McKay Exhibition Opening

Liz McKay

Liz McKay

On Friday night we attended the opening of the latest exhibition by the super talented Sydney artist (and good friend of mine) Liz McKay. Her paintings are just beautiful, so stylish and original and I know how much work goes into each one so I can appreciate them even more. The exhibition runs until the 2nd of July so make sure you check it out at Trevor Victor Harvey Gallery in Seaforth.

The Black Apple

p1000124

I have long been a fan of The Black Apple after finding her lovely prints on Etsy a few years ago. I couldn’t possibly resist her latest offerings, this triple pack of mini notebooks (one grid, one blank and one lined!) and lovely valentine postcards. Her products are always so beautifully packaged and she always includes super cute extras in with your order (like the silhouette bookmark I got with mine). As well as her amazing stationary, she also produces top quality prints of all her gorgeous artworks. If only I had a few more walls! K x

Mon Petit Fantome Prints

Etsy is a wealth of loveliness and I must say I’m slightly addicted to trawling through its many pages of talent. One of my latest purchases which I’m truely in love with are these beautiful prints by Mon Petit Fantome. But wait, what’s this…?

A beautiful limited edition hand bound print-book of gorgeous melancholic creatures? Say it isnt so! How could I resist? I mean really, does it get much cuter? Now to find a space for the prints! K x

Rob Ryan – Ryantown

I very recently spent 2 weeks in London – I visited nearly every store I could while we were there and I think by far my favourite was Ryantown, the blog obviously does it no justice. I knew of Rob Ryan before I went to London but apon visiting his store I fell in love with everything in there!!

Ryantown - outside

The outside of Ryantown – there is a flower markets in the street on Sundays selling lots of beautiful flowers and plants (for a fiver only a fiver!)

Ryan Town - inside

Lovely kids tees, printed glasses, small papercuts, books, cushions, tiles (of which i now have a few) beautiful large framed papercuts (which i couldn’t fit in my luggage to bring home) and other lovely things.

Ryantown inside

The entrance (to the right of this photo) has a mural on the wall which was just stunning, I am also the proud owner of a “make your own” Rob Ryan screen printed skirt, I’ll have to get help with that one.

Ryantown - tiles

After 2 visits to the store – the selected tiles – I so want to tile my whole bathroom with these, they are just beautiful !! Lx
