Exciting News…

1 November 2011

I have SUPER exciting news today! I’d like to introduce to you…Wilfred, the newest member of our little family!

Wilfred is a 5 month old French Bulldog who came to live with us through the RSPCA and some very lovely friends of ours who picketed for us to be his new parents with a friend of theirs who was a foster mum to Wilfred. After a week or so of not knowing if he was going to be able to come to us, to say the least we are SO ridiculously thrilled to finally have him here and especially happy about being able to save a puppy who may otherwise have not found a new home that was quite so inviting. Having originally come from a puppy mill you can imagine his first home would not have been fun at all, so we’re doing our best to drown him in love this time round (it’s really not hard, look at that face!).

He’s a gentle and calm little man with no apparent interest in Juno whatsoever. Which is a huge relief and lots of fun. Juno’s slowly adapting to being one of two siblings, but is getting lots of love and reassurance in the meantime. And don’t worry, she’ll always be top bunny in this house!

So far he’s eaten some sticks & explored everything there is to see in the yard.

Slept a lot…(and for the record, he snores like no one I’ve met before!)

Basked in the sun while we drank our morning coffees…

And even took a bath…and loved it!

Lately…

26 October 2011

I picked up a fantastic 1970′s quilt at my favourite vintage shop in Newtown. It’s the perfect mix of fluro and floral in my opinion.

I drew a new bunny couple.

And quickly applied them to the appropriate plates! Some still available here.

Juno’s been lazing about as usual and molting all over the place! Our house is fur-ball city right now.

She also been very demanding with her diet since our return, having become quite accustomed to living with a vegetarian aunty and uncle! She’s going crazy for parsley…

And mint!

And we’ve also been working on lots of colourful and cute new earrings on the Made By White side of things! More on that very soon. Kx

New Collaboration- Lisa Manuels

20 October 2011

Lisa Manuels is an illustrator and designer based in the Netherlands who draws some of the cutest bunnies, bears and just about anything else you can think of that’s adorable! We’ve worked with her on this latest range to produce some of our favourite little collaboration brooches. Knitting bunnies, beekeeping bears and even tiny illustrations in coloured wooden frames, there’s something you will be sure to love. You can view the range here or check out lisa blog and online shop for more of her great work.

What I Wore – Storybook Rabbit Skirt

17 October 2011

This is a pretty special little what I wore, because it features my very own Storybook Rabbit Skirt! I designed a panel (with a LOT help from Lynds) for made590′s summer range of side pocket skirts and here’s the result. You might remember my fabric from a little while back on the blog and this was the final product! I’m pretty much in love with the shape and cut of this skirt, its super comfy and the polka dot fabric is soft and cool for summer (which is taking its time!). I’m a little slow blogging about this, as half of them have already sold! But if you want to get your hands on your very own, click here and order through made590′s online store (or for the locals, pop into the store and grab one quick)

So what I wore..

Storybook Rabbit for made590 side pocket skirt – here

Navy floral cardy - revival

Stripey top – H&M

Stockings – Target

T-bar Sandals – Urban Outfitters

Diamonte Belt – Vintage

UK Roadtrip

14 October 2011

I’m slowly continuing the documentation of our recent trip, which already seems like too long ago. Once we left London we hired a car and hit the road, driving from London to Penrith via Bristol, Bath, Manchester, Derbyshire and Penrith, then back down again via Oxford. Here are some highlights and cute places we visited along the way.

Bath was a cute town with a real village feel to it. We went to the Roman Baths & did a spot of shopping – do note this cute shop I really loved in Bath called “Found”, which had a particularly familiar feel to it, stocking lots of cute brands and unique bits and pieces. Unfortunately I didn’t get a photo, but the shop was really beautiful and the staff were nice too.

In Manchester we stopped off to surprise an old friend of mine who recently moved to the UK indefinitely and now works at an adorable shop called “Hey, Little Cupcake” in the business district of Manchester. The shop/cafe sells coffee, cupcakes and even has a range of adorable prints by local clever peeps. Particularly impressive was the range of “swizzlers” cupcake flavours – one for every day of the week! You can check out their facebook page and wish you were there every time they announce a new flavour, just like I do. Swizzlers always make me think of my dad who used to feed the little swizzler lollies to our dog occasionally, making her eyes go all peppy from the sugar and sherbet. I still laugh thinking about this, in fact he probably still does it and she probably still loves him for it.

We also had lunch at this fine establishment in Manchester, how adorable is their signage! And the food was delicious.

Probably one of the ultimate UK highlights was our visit to Beatrix Potter World, which held so many adorable furry creatures the battery on my camera nearly went flat while there. Of course my faves were the little caped bunnies, not unlike some of my own characters (maybe deep down some distant childhood memory was drawn upon that day).

We also visited a Little Chef restaurant on the way home. If anyone happened to catch the series Big Chef takes on Little Chef on the ABC a few months back, they’ll know why this is exciting. For everyone else, the series involved Heston Blumenthal taking over a road side restaurant chain and trying to bring some life back to the “British Institution” he held very fond childhood memories of. There is a Little Chef restaurant (or two) in nearly every town along the road in the UK (but no speed limit signs ANYWHERE on the highways of the entire country -go figure?) but we did have to hunt a little and detour like crazy to find one which had recieved the Heston makeover! The food was pretty darn good, possibly one of the best pancake meals I ate the entire trip.

And of course we cant forget the whole point of driving around the UK countryside, especially around the lakes district….

….the views!

And the lakes! And I must admit, the company along the way wasn’t bad either. Kx

The Storybook Rabbit in Inside Out Mag

You might spy a cute little feature in Inside Out mag this month featuring some plates by yours truly amongst other talented people, like Mr Rob Ryan and Donna Wilson, as well as other locals doing cool things with dinnerware. Kx

What I Wore -Green and Blue

12 October 2011

Monday I wore one of the dresses I got in Amsterdam. I bought this one from Marbles Vintage on my day with Nikki. I wore it first because even though its nowhere near the coolest one I bought it required no alterations (gotta love that) and it was at the top of the pile! I was probably a little ambitious with not wearing anything very warm, by the end of the day I was back in my boots and a cardigan because its still a little chilly around here!

Dress: Marbles Vintage

Cropped Green Jacket: Cotton On (a few a seasons ago)

Enamel Kite Brooch: Candy Stripe Cloud

Belt: Vintage

Shoes: Zara

7 Good Things About Being Home

7 October 2011

Sometimes its the simplest things that you miss the most. Like real coffee!

Home baked cakes.

I’m having fun revisiting early purchases in Amsterdam…

And receiving the mail I posted home…I’d forgotten all about these amazing vintage trims I bought in Amsterdam till I opened the box again. No idea what I will do with them yet, but they were too pretty to leave behind.

And total joy! Having full access to my wardrobe again!

Opening the mail box and finding possibly the most amazing wedding invite I’ve ever seen. Of course, I expected nothing less from this lovely lady, but still…wow!

And of course spending time with this little fluff ball (who’s shedding fur left, right and centre at the moment!)

Hope everyone had a lovely week with a lot less jet lag than mine, happy weekend! Kx
