Little Things

15 December 2011

It’s been a very long and boring week, so I’m sorry I have nothing super exciting to mention just yet. It’s been a week of packing endless orders (did we mention our Made By White super SALE is on till friday night only -get in quick!) & countless trips to the post office.

A week of puppies waiting patiently for you to find two minutes to throw their toy.

A week of bunnies hiding in boxes waiting for the warmth to come back.

And sometimes when it’s a week like this AND you have to go grocery shopping, it’s the little things (literally and metaphorically) that give you a thrill. We bought miniature penne (something we eat quite frequently in the regular sized form).

And made our favourite cherry tomato, basil, bocconcini and pine nut pasta. It was a highlight AND delicious. Kx

The Kids Are Alright

13 December 2011

A nice thing that happened last week is that Juno suddenly decided Wilfy wasn’t so bad to be around. Bribed with lots of basil and attention, she finally ventured out of the bedroom to hang out with us.

Then she walked right up to Wilfred…much to his surprise. And sat with him on the rug.

Then they had a little sniff of each other.

and then she decided that yes, actually, he really is the most gross thing she’s ever smelt….

And Wilfy went back to making his own fun with the paper towel roll.

It was a nice little moment while it lasted, and luckily Juno has decided that being with us is much nicer than laying on top of my box of belts…most of the time. Kx

What I Wore – The Raisin Did It

9 December 2011

This little what I wore is dedicated to our lovely friend Mia at the Raisin Did It. She made this beautiful little top (along with a couple of other spectacular little numbers) for the Sydney Finders Keepers and we were so glad to not have to try to squeeze into her kids clothes anymore! Hopefully she will have a couple left for purchase in her etsy shop soon, I’ll keep you posted!

The Raisin Did It Collage Top: made from vintage and japanese fabrics, handpicked, coordinated and made by Mia herself! How could I resist this little one with embroidered birdies on the bib!?

Vintage Mocassin Boots: from etsy

Cardigan: Op shop

Necklace: So Little Time Co, another favourite purchase from the markets. All hand painted and super cute!

Finders Keepers Fun!

8 December 2011

We had lots of fun at the Finders Keepers last weekend, here are some snaps of the best bits!

Made by white goodies!

Candy Stripe Cloud Garden Stakes and colourful chain necklaces!

Super cute Candy Stripe Cloud and Andrea Smith christmas decorations, displayed beautifully with Andrea’s amazing screen printed wrapping paper!

Lots of Storybook Rabbit goodies including brooches, plates, bunting packs, one off ceramic pieces and lolly jars.

Wilfy on a plate, which I kind of threw together at the last minute the week before the market. He was a very popular choice and I sold all the Wilfred plates I had made!

We had lots of creative friends with beautiful stalls, including our stall-neighbour Andrea Smith who was selling prints, hand-printed christmas paper, cards and of course the decorations her and Lynds collaborated on.

Made590 was represented too of course, with some of the most amazing clothing, gifts and gifty pieces.

Our dear friend Mechelle Smitten was the highlight of the zine room! With zines galore, brooches, plates, hand drawn ceramic beauties and other bits and pieces.

Our talented friend Mia aka The Raisin Did It had a fab stall brimming with beautiful kids wear, one off ladies tops (which we all hastily purchased) and lots of fun little bargains.

We are always so happy to be part of The Finders Keepers Markets! We always meet lots of new friends, see old ones once again and make lots of great purchases on the day! A special mention must also go to the lovely Lalita from Me and Oli with her beautiful tailor shop set up (and spectacular range of clothing), The Horse for making PERFECT shoes (which we purchased several pairs of!) and for always being so great to chat to, The lovely folks from So Little Time Co for making such cute jewellery and for sharing bunny stories with me, and our stall neighbours Serpent and Swan for being such nice people to bump into several times an hour. Also thanks everyone who came down to say hi, purchased something on the day, or just made the market the highlight it always is. Kx

Finders Keepers Time Again!

30 November 2011

I feel a little like my work space is being slowly drowned in plates, jewellery and ceramic goodies.

And there are piles forming on every flat surface I can find.

Because it’s time for The Sydney Finders Keepers Market!! This friday & saturday at Carriageworks. So come down and see what we have to offer. Candy Stripe Cloud, Made By White and The Storybook Rabbit will combine forces in one super dooper amazing stall, offering goodies for everyone. Jewellery (including all our new collaboration ranges!), plates, christmas decorations and lots of limited edition bits and pieces you’ll probably only see on friday night. We’d love to see you all there, so come down and say “hi”, have a drink, a shop and nice time all round. Kx

What I Wore – Coral, Yellow and Green

24 November 2011

Another cool day in Sydney. Come on weather, make up your mind!

What I Wore:

Green Floral Prairie Dress: from this shop on etsy

Mocassins and belt: H&M

Leggings: Falke (one of the best pairs I’ve ever purchased, highly recommend!)

Tongue Toy

22 November 2011

Wilfred’s new favourite toy. Bought from via this great site and truly hours of fun. Of course he wouldn’t let me take a proper photo, or hold it in his mouth long enough for a real shot, but you get the idea. Kx

What I Wore – Green Floral and Black

18 November 2011

A rare moment where it isn’t sweltering hot today, so I grabbed out my boots, a short sleeve coat (for the rain) and stockings again. It’s a nice little change, but the puppy is BORED. Walking in the rain is just no fun.

Dress: Vintage from Veb Orange in Berlin (yes, this shop really is as awesome as it looks!) and there’s a funny story that goes along with this one, because I remember drooling over Nikkis photos of dresses months ago after I’d been to Berlin wondering what shop it was and how I missed out on such amazingness, only to go into Veb Orange and nab the very dress I wanted in Nikkis photos!!! Meant to be or what?

Coat: Bardot, but bought from Salvos.

Belt: DJ’s outlet at Birkenhead Point

Boots: Vintage

Brooch: BRAND NEW (infact I’m gluing them as we speak)! Made By White Flower Basket brooch. Check it out here!

Good Things Lately…

14 November 2011

Lots of walks to Sydney Park to play with the other puppies and roll in the grass..

The kids in the morning, looking for some love…

Or a carrot for breakfast…

Sleepy afternoons spent next to my desk.

Car trips to fun places…

Like the beach!

Where everything taste better if its covered in sand.

Hope you’ve all had a lovely time lately too. Kx

The Rabbits’ Wedding

9 November 2011

On saturday we attended the wedding of these lovely people. The former miss Mechelle B (now Mrs Smitten) married her boyfriend of 8 years, Pasquale, in a gloriously sunny cottage garden. The wedding was vintage themed, with handmade paper decorations, hand sewn garlands by Anney B, op-shopped crockery, furniture and even a reading from a children’s book called “The Rabbits Wedding”.

The dress theme was vintage formal, so Lynds and I wore some cute dresses out of my extensive vintage wardrobe, though none rivalled Mechelle’s spectacular 1950′s numbers (yes there were 3!) we found at the recent Love Vintage Fair.

The boys scrubbed up alright too!

This pink and black lacy tiered dress was one of the most amazing I’ve ever seen!

And after the tea party the girls entertained us all with ukelele love songs! They were pretty damn amazing, I really hope the video shows up on youtube one day.

The photographers for the day were Jess from In an Instant Photography (who we met at the winterland markets last year) and her boyfriend Sebastian who was filming in super 8 on the day. Jess also took some of the coolest polaroids I’ve ever seen!

And lynds took all these cute pics of the day you see here. The vegetarian feast!

And spectacular fruit cornucopia Anney carved by hand at 4am the night before!

We even had an amazing sunset before our wood fired pizza dinner! Do note the cute perspex lettering Lynds made for the big day.

It was an extremely positive, cute, beautifully decorated day. It made me tired just thinking about all the planning that must have gone into making it so lovely. Congrats Mr and Mrs Smitten, you two truly deserve all the happiness in the world. Kx
