What I Wore: Mexican Yellow Embroidery

15 February 2012

Here’s the second cute embroidered dress that arrived last week. This ones become a new favourite, the ocre yellow, the heavy embroidery, the little lace panel in the sleeve, there’s nothing I don’t like about this one. Do also note I chopped off my hair last week! It’s very liberating and annoying me already.

Dress: Napkin Items Etsy Shop – super cute styling here, check it out!

Belt: Vintage

Clogs: Nordic Fusion

Cardigan: Vintage

Tights: Falke (definitely the best tights I’ve ever bought!)

Successful Saturday

30 January 2012

Over a year ago I was contacted by a lovely lady called Cobi regarding a collection of vintage crockery she had spent 2 years gathering for her amazing wedding. Needless to say I was more than happy to give these lovely little bits and pieces a 2nd life and on saturday we went over and made the exchange. Little did I know what an amazing collection it was, and I think I nearly had a heart attack unwrapping all the beautiful tea sets, trios and floral saucers she had collected!

Amongst my favourites are these beautiful cake plates!

And this art deco trio, in the most amazing autumn colours.

But by far my favourites are these TO DIE FOR pastel plate sets which I already have plans for. (There was also cup and saucer sets and tiny little pastel tea cups! Ahhhh.)

Cobi was also lovely enough to send me some photos of the plates I bought off her in use on her special day. PRETTY! Kx

My Collections: Hankies

11 January 2012

This year I thought I’d start something new for the blog and start posting about my many collection of things. I do have a lot of fun and pretty stuff, and I thought it could be fun to share some of it here with you in a somewhat organised way.

Last post I mentioned how I’d picked up some new hankies for my collection and now here it is.

The kitties are probably one of my favourite ones I have, and I especially love kids hankies because they are so cute and fun. But I also love 70′s floral (anything) so I hold quite a few of those ones as well. Sometimes you find really special super soft hankies which have been loved and treasured for years, and despite quite a few people pointing out to me they were probably once full of snot, I like them anyway! Kx

Summer Holiday

10 January 2012

We’ve been holidaying on the south coast and enjoying the sunshine for the last week. We’re feeling rejuvenated, happy and not quite ready for the reality of everyday work. Here’s some snaps of the things we did, places we saw, and just of the general beauty of summer!

Wilfy enjoyed the huge backyard at the holiday house.

And fish and chips at Currarong beach.

And hanging out the car window, EVERYWHERE we went.

Getting VERY sandy.

And floating around in the water to cool off.

We enjoyed Bbq’s at the beach.

Walking around small beachy towns, like Kiama.

I particularly enjoyed vintage shopping in Berry at Nefarious Rabbit (where I scored the cutest little dress!) and Milton at Nikki B’s (pictured above), where amongst other things I snagged:

some beautiful new crockery.

I also op-shopped Nowra, Ulladulla and pretty much anywhere else we went and ended up with some cute little hankies to add to my collection. And Wilfred found a prize stick in the parking lot.

And back at our holiday house, I stole some vintage floral linens that were too good to be stuck in an old cupboard!

I hope you all got some nice holiday time over christmas spent doing all your favourite things with all your favourite people, like mine was. Kx

Lately…

26 October 2011

I picked up a fantastic 1970′s quilt at my favourite vintage shop in Newtown. It’s the perfect mix of fluro and floral in my opinion.

I drew a new bunny couple.

And quickly applied them to the appropriate plates! Some still available here.

Juno’s been lazing about as usual and molting all over the place! Our house is fur-ball city right now.

She also been very demanding with her diet since our return, having become quite accustomed to living with a vegetarian aunty and uncle! She’s going crazy for parsley…

And mint!

And we’ve also been working on lots of colourful and cute new earrings on the Made By White side of things! More on that very soon. Kx

What I Wore – White, Navy and Yellow

25 October 2011

This little dress I got from a flea market in Amsterdam. It cost me 5 euros (about $7 AUD) and even though I mainly bought it because I liked the print of the fabric, it fit like a glove too! Yay.

Dress: Vintage

Jumper: Handknitted Vintage (mum found this one -score!)

Cute Stripe Scarf: a gift from the lovely miss Supayana

Bow belt: Vintage

Shoes: Lipstik

What I Wore -Green and Blue

12 October 2011

Monday I wore one of the dresses I got in Amsterdam. I bought this one from Marbles Vintage on my day with Nikki. I wore it first because even though its nowhere near the coolest one I bought it required no alterations (gotta love that) and it was at the top of the pile! I was probably a little ambitious with not wearing anything very warm, by the end of the day I was back in my boots and a cardigan because its still a little chilly around here!

Dress: Marbles Vintage

Cropped Green Jacket: Cotton On (a few a seasons ago)

Enamel Kite Brooch: Candy Stripe Cloud

Belt: Vintage

Shoes: Zara

7 Good Things About Being Home

7 October 2011

Sometimes its the simplest things that you miss the most. Like real coffee!

Home baked cakes.

I’m having fun revisiting early purchases in Amsterdam…

And receiving the mail I posted home…I’d forgotten all about these amazing vintage trims I bought in Amsterdam till I opened the box again. No idea what I will do with them yet, but they were too pretty to leave behind.

And total joy! Having full access to my wardrobe again!

Opening the mail box and finding possibly the most amazing wedding invite I’ve ever seen. Of course, I expected nothing less from this lovely lady, but still…wow!

And of course spending time with this little fluff ball (who’s shedding fur left, right and centre at the moment!)

Hope everyone had a lovely week with a lot less jet lag than mine, happy weekend! Kx

What I Wore – purple and navy

29 August 2011

Last week I took advantage of the last bit of cold we’re probably going to get this season (yesterday seemed ridiculously warm!) and wore a new long sleeved dress I got off etsy from this cute little shop. Its pretty 70′s and amazing.

Dress: Vintage from Diet Coke Vintage (see above)

Cape: Asos

Stockings: Jonathan Adler

Hair Bow: op-shop (think it one of those nylon head scarves for covering your curlers!)

Shoes: The Horse. I am currently DROOLING over their new summer sandal colours, which will inevitably be mine after our trip. But do I get Jade, Green or Pink?!

Cat Brooch: Mitchell Rd Antiques, handmade from fimo! I was recently reunited with this guy after thinking he was lost forever, and boy am I glad!

What I Wore – red and yellow

23 August 2011

Last week I wore one of my new dresses which arrived in the post. It’s a Lanz Original (one of my new fave vintage brands) and I bought it from a lovely little etsy shop called Quite Frightening, along with two other cute dresses (and there are more there right now I’d love to get my hands on!). I love the bows down the back and its a perfect fit. She also sells really cute handmade things, and even gifted me with an adorable leather bow bracelet!

Dress: Lanz Original Vintage from Quite frightening

Yellow Cardy: (yes, another one…I know, obsessed!) from op-shop, but originally by sportsgirl.

Yellow Dot Socks: gifted from the lovely miss made590 from Melbourne’s Obus store (my advice is don’t bother with their website, it’s beautiful but completely useless and FRUSTRATING!!!)

Golden Heart Belt: DJ’s outlet at Birkenhead Point.

Red Leather Oxfords: Golden Ponies

Nails: Chi Chi, OPI and Sportsgirl (the sportsgirl one has already rubbed off – dont bother!)

You may also notice my Cabybara brooch, which is somewhat of a sneak peek at our new brooches we’re designing over at Made By White! It was complete coincidence it matched my outfit perfectly, I swear :)
