I have an exciting little sneak peek at our new range for you all. Can you guess the theme? It’s probably not surprising we’ve taken inspiration from Lyndsays’ Mexican wedding amongst other things to create a flowery mexican range of jewellery! We’re very excited about our first samples and there will be more to share soon when we decide on the final designs.
I think this pretty flowery donkey is going to be my new favourite brooch. Kx
It’s been a little quiet here lately I know, But we’ve been busy readying and moving into a new home. We’ve moved out of Newtown to save some money, and we’ve settled into my nans’ old house in Brighton. I’m loving being here already, in her pretty 1940′s house, with it’s endless picture rails and bright, light rooms.
I even have a little sewing room here!

Last week I got an amazing package from my pen pal (for lack of a better word) Lotte. We were supposed to meet up on my last trip to Amsterdam, but sadly our plans fell through and we didn’t get to meet in person. We instead ended up exchanging post packages every few months, which is SO fun!

We tried out our new local the morning we moved and I had delicious museli with barbecued banana. YUM!
Wilfy has decided the bed is the perfect watching post for the new street.
And he has also been enjoying our weekend bike rides, where he runs faster than Trev can pedal.
Meanwhile, Juno has decided her new run is great, but not for her. 3 days after we moved in, she altered her fence so she could escape! Kx
I was lucky enough to do a little swapping with the lovely girls at Love Blythe Doll over on etsy.
Which meant my three of my favourite girls got new outfits! Olive got this magnificent BEAR DRESS!
Stella got the cutest little confetti sailor dress with matching cape.
And Judy nabbed herself the best Cape Coat I’ve ever seen! Just perfect with my little bluebird brooch I made.
Everything is so incredibly well made and ADORABLE make sure you check their shop out. Obviously, I just want one of each in human size, for me! Kx
I dont think I’ve ever looked forward to an event as much as I did Lynds and Bens wedding! When they decided they’d get married after 8 years together I was so incredibly happy to see my sister marry her perfect match and let me just say after receiving this save the date…
And this invitation (both designed by the incredibly talented Andrea Smith)…
I’d say there was more than a little anticipation for the big day to finally be here for everyone involved!
Lynds and Ben (and anyone else who volunteered to help) spent weeks making amazing paper flowers, spray painting bottle vases, perfectly matching and making colour coded table wear and creating a huge, colourful mess in their livingroom!
Until it was finally the morning of the big day! We loaded giant pinatas, a wall of flowers and millions of other perfect tiny details into the van and set off for Lions Gate Lodge!
Unpacking the table decoration paper flower bundles made by heart flutter. So much effort went into every bloom! And it really showed.
There were also plenty of GIANT paper flowers too we spent a few days hot gluing together from layers of tissue and crepe paper, ombre dyed to flower perfection! Ben did a great job on the giant concrete flower bases, which worked a treat when the wind picked up.
And it wouldn’t be a fiesta without MEXICAN FLAGS!
And 8 perfectly colour coordinated tables in pink, purple, aqua, cobalt, green, yellow, orange and red. Each with a perfectly scalloped mexican oil cloth centre.
And as mentioned, the paper flower wall! This formed an amazingly colourful backdrop for the polaroid photo booth run by the very lovely In an Instant photography team, Jess and Seb!
And here they are, in all their matching perfection! Ben secretly laser cut the buttons on his suit to perfectly match Lyndsays’ 1950′s mauve tulle dress, with the help of a few colour hints by me! He did incredibly well with the whole outfit and looked so dapper in his Hello Kitty bowtie! Lyndsays’ dress was from Forever Vintage, which sells some of the most incredible dresses from the 30′s-80′s. Teamed with her velvet ribbon bow belt we made, melissa red bow wedges and lasercut perspex flower necklace she made herself it was beyond adorable in every way!
The ceremony was short and sweet and before long they were saying I do. I have never seen so many people so happy all at once. I’d have taken better photos but I was too busy crying! It was just so lovely. And then, just like that, they were married.
After the wedding ceremony there was picnic boxes for all filled with vegan treats like veggie dippers, wraps and pinata cookies! This of course was just the starter for the mexican feast that came later! All the delicious vegan food was by Sprout and Bean, who were so great, and it was all completely DELICIOUS. (if you click that link, you can see their blog on the day too)
And the cake! A sheer masterpiece made by a dear friend of Lyndsays. Here’s a little contribution I made for on top of the cake, reflecting them both on their big day!
And the whole cake itself, all ready for cutting into! How great are all those amazing paper flowers on the smooth white icing?
And here it is, in its 7 layers of vegan rainbow glory! It was flavoured with orange blossom and had layers of dairy-free white chocolate ganache and tofutti cream cheese. Mmmm.
And here are some of the cute polaroids captured on the night! I wore a 1950′s dress I picked up in Amsterdam from my favourite vintage shop Laura Dols.
How great is that flower backdrop? Jess supplied so many cute dress-ups to use for the photos, we were spoilt for choice! But obviously, I went straight for the bunny!

And a little snapshot of her rings (sorry its not clearer, I had to borrow lots of images off Facebook till we get the real ones! -thanks everyone)! The engagement ring being made by this amazing man, and the rings on the day being a baby bird in a crown for her, a hedgehog for him. TOO cute!
And the shoes! Ben had our mum embroidery these adorable sugar skulls onto a pair of converse for the big day. You might spot them on the invite if you look closely.
And finally the rainbow of smiling faces our family made on the big day. Completely unintentional, but I love this photo! It was truly the most perfect, fun, colourful, amazing day for the two best people I know. Kx
We’ve been busy creating some of our very favourite collectable inspired brooches for you to add to your collection! I took some of mine for a spin this weekend, so I’ve included some snaps of our new pieces accompanying my outfits.

This little bambi is inspired by our favourite collectable little deer friends. Regular Made By White blog readers will know it’s no secret I collect anything deer-like! This little guy is the perfect representation of all of our favourites.
This little flamingo friend is such a colourful addition to our brooch catalogue. He will bring happiness and a splash of colour to any outfit.

This cuckoo clock is another well-known favourite we couldn’t resist adding to this range. With its little deer, bunny and teeny little love bird cuckoos, I think this is my favourite!
These twin swallows are the perfect addition to any collar or coat. We love the combo of blues and reds, as well as their delicate wings, which make them look just like the wall swallows which inspired them.

This mama and baby owl reminds us of the old ticking clocks of the 70′s with their swinging tails and moving eyes. This mother owl will always keep one eye on her little baby, just incase he decides to take flight!

Ah the swan planter! A super collectible little friend indeed. And boy are they getting hard to come by, so snap this one up while she’s here. How could you resist the pastel flowers and soft creamy woodgrain?

And finally this adorable little donkey cart is inspired by our own mums’ collection of these funny little mexican friends, who often have salt and pepper shakers attached to their backs or sometimes a planter in the back. Ours is a little more cute and flowery than some, so maybe you can start your own collection of them here (he might be temporarily sold out while we wait for more delicious little flowers to fill his cart, but he will be back very soon!).
We’ve spent a lot of time laser cutting, painting and gluing these new little friends for you to take home, and we hope you love them as much as we do! Kx
I don’t know about you guys, but if I had to choose two meals to live on it would be weekend breakfasts and daily dessert. I don’t know where it started, but for as long as I can remember I have loved any kind of sweet thing and when I met Trev and realised he was very much the same I knew I’d met my match. We always look forward to dessert the best, and often forgo entrees to make sure there room for something sweet after dinner.
Here is a little insight into some of the most delicious sweets we’ve sampled lately.

French Toast with poached pears, strawberries and whipped cream from Big Brekky in Petersham. Sadly they had hidden bacon underneath the pile -WHY?-(and which neither of us eat), but Wilfred enjoyed it immensely.

Strawberry and banana waffles from Shenkin in Erskineville.

Our fail safe at-home breakfast, pancakes with raspberries (I always keep a bag of frozen ones in the freezer), maple syrup and ice cream.

Last week when there were people in town for Trevs’ work we all went to Summit Restaurant and I ordered this amazing Toffee Apple dessert with 7 spice ice cream. It tasted a lot like Christmas! (sorry about the grainy photo, the restaurant was so dark!)

We visited Single Origin Roasters in Surry Hills on the way home from the vet the other day and having missed my chance at any kind of sweet breakfast, I was forced to order a chocolate fondant for lunch. Shame.

The other night we combined our forces and came up with this sort-of lemon cheesecake. Made with lemon curd from scratch, crushed arrowroot biscuits and vanilla cream cheese. Could possibly be the best one we’ve come up with yet.

I make these white chocolate and raspberry cupcakes a fair bit, because they require a minimal amount of ingredients and rarely come out wrong.

Another fail safe dessert I make often is this baked chocolate pot which is just an egg, a table spoon of flour, a couple of bits of dark chocolate or cocoa, a small spoonful of butter, a table spoon of sugar and some milk. Mix and throw it in two rammekins, add some raspberries (are you seeing a theme with the frozen raspberries? I swear they make everything good!) and bake for ten minutes on 200 degrees until the top is just cooked but the middle is still a bit runny. SO good.

And some nights when I’m REALLY lazy, I make a microwaved version of the above. Sounds bazaar, but its actually really good, and easy, and SO quick. Microwaved for 1.5 minutes and served with ice cream. Man, I’m hungry. Kx
I started a little photo-a-day project last month over on Instagram, basically sharing Wardrobe Gems anyone thought were worth sharing! I stuck to vintage pieces that aren’t necessarily things I wear every day, but things I love dearly. There were a few great people who joined in alongside me including the very lovely Jules from Sconnie and Jam, Janine from Middlemost Clothing, Mia from The Raisin Did It, Donna from Deer Donna, Christina from Made590 and my very lovely friends Kellie and Emma C (a fellow made590 behind the scenes lady).
I thought it would be fun to share mine here for any non-instagrammers!

Yellow floral capelet dress, Glomesh Vest, my favourite Red Riding Hood coat and navy floral dress I got in Amsterdam.

My Brass buckle Belt collection, peter pan collar velvet dress, little floral collared blue dress and my Lang Sterling swan brooch.

Vintage purple patchwork dress, winking bunny brooch, Sterling moving Cuckoo Brooch and Kelly Green line dancer dress.

Vintage zig zag cotton vest, purple floral prairie dress, Czech glass floral brooches, and handmade floral cross stitch scarf.

Miniature Victorian engagement rings, orange gingham embroidered prairie dress, vintage navy nurses cape, vintage fringed clogs (wilfred has since destroyed these. Waaaaa!)

Kirbees Nans’ floral dress, pale blue embroidered 70′s dress, 70′s pastle check coat and pink ric rac dirndl dress.

Mums’ mesh bow brooch, blue daisy ruffle front dress, favourite floral winter dress and favourite summer watering can dress.

3 maxi dresses from Kirbees’ Nan, wooden carved cat brooch, cotton abstract print shirts, and my cross stitch bunny loafers.
Hope you enjoyed a peek into some of my favourite vintage wardrobe bits and pieces! You can check out everyone elses’ under the hashtag #wardrobegemsjuly on instgram! Kx

Seeing so many Made By White brooches, earrings and necklaces go to new homes during the sale. We hope you all are currently enjoying your new goodies! Thanks anyone who ordered and for your continued support.

I got to raid a friends nannas’ wardrobe a few weeks ago. Always been a dream of mine, obviously, and this newly acquired collection of vintage shirts is still making me smile, along with the dresses, hats, belts and other bits and pieces I gave a new home to.

Baking. Always nice to spend time with the oven.

And another winter indulgence…poaching pears.

Juno sitting on the back doorstep deciding whether to go out or stay in.

Wilfreds’ ridiculous face.

Porridge making on saturday mornings.

Having a backyard fire pit with some of our favourite people and making S’mores! Our version was Ritz biscuit, toasted marshmallow and melted chocolate (we later moved onto strawberry and banana combos when the sugar got a little too intense!). Delicious and indulgent and absolutely sickening after about 5 or so.

And finally something that always makes me beyond happy and full of new hope, a decent op-shop haul! Included was 3 pairs of boots, a pair of vintage sandals, a multicolour granny rug, fruit print skirt, brown leather belt, floral 70′s dress with velvet bow, a pink coat and two beautiful old plates, all for under $50. YES! Kx
We’re lucky enough to have inherited a fair bit of general craftiness from the amazing lady we call “Mum”. Here is what she has been up to in this wintery weather. KNITTING!

I saw mum last week and she showed up with this BEAUTIFUL hexagon blanket I’d mentioned to her months ago after finding the crochet pattern on etsy. Little did I know she was working on it the whole time since and now that its finally done we can enjoy its overwhelming prettiness and warmth on our couch.

You might remember the deer jumper mum knitted me last winter, well this time round I asked for a kitty jumper and let me just say I’m IN LOVE. The original kittens were based on the very clever Tiny Owl Knits‘ kitten mittens, which mum also knitted for me. Needless to say its become my new favourite, especially when this weather has been SO cold and the woollen kitties are SO warm.

and these amazing knee high socks are also perfect for this crazy cold we’ve had the last few days. The best thing is Mum knows exactly the colours that I love and usually what she comes up with is a million time better than I ever imagine it could be!

And seeing as I spent a lot of time with Blythes last week, she’s been knitting for them too! These little elephant jumpers are THE CUTEST, no?

and she had also made a little green beanie to match Olive’s new dress! We’re both so spoilt! Kx
