Some good things happened lately…

We carried all our possessions across the road into a new little terrace house.

We said a sad little goodbye to a very empty house we called home for almost a year.

And then said “hello” to our amazing new backyard mural,

a sunny little courtyard,

and saturday breakfasts in the sunshine.

And I was happily reunited with a fireplace to take photos on! The new plate photos are looking cuter now.

We took some trips to Ikea and fit a lot in a tiny car!

We tried out a new kitchen and cooked what is clearly required for this weather! Vegie soup!

And then we all snuggled up on the couch in a new home (some took up a little more space than others). Kx
A few highlights from our time in Melbourne last week!

Going from a ridiculously oversized apartment first night stay at Southbank…

To the cutest accommodation you could ever find. The Loft was super cute and pint-sized. Complete with everyones’ dream fridge, the pink Smeg!

We ate several delicious breakfasts (my fave) at many great cafes! I ate the best fruit toast ever at Gas Eatery and Supplies in South Melbourne, a favourite from our last trip.

We ate this delicious Bircher Museli from Proud Mary, a super sweet cafe recommended to us by a local barista in Sydney. We also had delicious coffees and take away goodies for the trip home.

This amazing walnut and poached pear French Toast was from Seven Seeds in Carlton. The food here was delicious and the cafe had a great interior. Possibly one of the best french toasts I’ve eaten!

And these raspberry and lemon curd french crepes were from Madame Sou Sous, which was conveniently right near where we were staying in Fitzroy. Madame Sou Sous has some great artwork inside, including some prints by Christina Gordon aka Jam Fancy, who you might remember from our recent collaboration range!

Probably my favourite shop we visited was Dagmar Rousset on Gertrude St. Complete SOCK HEAVEN! I made swift purchase of a pair of japanese polkadots (third in on the right hand side) and left before my money slipped eagerly from my hands any quicker than it already had.

I also couldn’t resist taking a photo of all the beautiful velvet jackets at Retrostar clothing. It’s in one of my favourite arcades along with Lenko & Alice Euphemia.
We had a great time last weekend at the Melbourne Finders Keepers Market, which was held in the beautiful Royal Exhibition Building.

We had a big colourful stall full of goodies by Made By White, Candy Stripe Cloud and The Storybook Rabbit.

We had lots of our new jewellery (the bunny riding a frenchie brooch was the stand out favourite!), stud earrings, necklaces and collaboration ranges.

Candy Stripe Cloud’s beautiful handmade shadow box shelves were popular too!

And lots of Storybook Rabbit plates, brooches and other goodies went to new homes too! We had such a fun time at the markets, thanks everyone who came down and said ‘hi’ or purchased some of our handmade wares! Kx & Lx

Today is The Storybook Rabbit‘s 2nd Birthday and to celebrate you can have 20% off anything in the shop (excluding custom plates) when you enter the code “BIRTHDAY” at the checkout. Only for today till midnight, so if there something you’ve had your eye on, nab it quick!
Thanks everyone for being so supportive for the last two years and a huge thanks to anyone who owns a piece of Storybook goodness. It makes me very happy to think more than 600 items have found new homes through my etsy shop! Kx

A little what I wore I snapped the other day, could be one of the last photographed in my lovely little attic sadly, as we’ve been told we have to move!! And so starts the terrible business of house hunting.
What I Wore:
Dress: Vintage from Amsterdam
Belt: H&M
Tights: Target
Shoes: Vintage from etsy
Scarf: Vintage from opshop
Brooch: Gift from my the lovely Mechelle Smitten!
With such a short last month of summer we’ve been soaking up the sunshine and trying to make the most of the warmth while it’s here (though I am not so secretly willing winter to come asap for wardrobe sake) Heres some fun things we’ve been up to lately.
We visited the kiddy farm with Lynds & Ben on the weekend. This piglet could have fit in our bag….surely.
Nice little bike rides to the park.
Ball and frisbee marathons, often involving several mixed breed puppies chasing Wilfred till he can hardly breathe.
Beach visits (though I haven’t entered the water past my knees at all this season!) to our favourite dog-friendlies on the north side.
Clontarf and Sirius Cove, which are perfect doggy beaches if anyone is interested.
Trying new local cafes (this one was Double Roasters in Marrickville) and sitting out in the sunshine (again, with Wilfy in tow). He’s such well behaved little guy we can never bare to leave him at home on weekends. He has no interest in wandering off, avoids small children and is happiest slouched between the two of us on the cool floor. He’s even learnt to drink rather delicately from a take away cup when places don’t have a bowl for water.
And finally spending some quiet time with Juno before the puppy gets home at night and when the day has cooled down enough for her to get active again.
Even though I’ll be sad to see summer go, we’ve enjoyed this mild (and sometimes WEIRD) weather but I do look forward to dragging out my boots, socks and coats sometime soon! Hope your summer has been as lovely as ours has been. Kx
I Apologise in advance for anyone who follows me on instagram and feels this post is a little “seen it” for them, but for everyone else I’ve been snapping outfits every morning before work (or daily outings) which I’ve found a lot easier than setting up the camera in the boiling hot attic and standing around till I get a couple of good ones for my “What I Wore” posts. I use a cute program called “Picstitch” on my iPhone to throw them all together and highlight different details of my outfits. It’s all a bit of fun, and usually I don’t have time to do a proper shoot of my work outfits, so it’s a good substitute with little time in the morning! Here are some recent highlights. (and if you do want to follow me on instagram your can search for me under “Thestorybookrabbit”) Kx
Another little sub section in my large dress collection. Lace trimmed dresses are a little weakness of mine (being a huge fan of anything 70′s), especially those that are floral too! My favourites include the apron-like blue number with watering cans print which I bought at mint condition in Roselle, The long sleeve red check and floral borders dress I wore here & which I bought off etsy and lastly the red floral stripe prairie dress I got in Amsterdam in the 9 streets area, at a cute shop called Lady Day. There’s practically one for every occasion and season here. Kx
Here’s the second cute embroidered dress that arrived last week. This ones become a new favourite, the ocre yellow, the heavy embroidery, the little lace panel in the sleeve, there’s nothing I don’t like about this one. Do also note I chopped off my hair last week! It’s very liberating and annoying me already.
Dress: Napkin Items Etsy Shop – super cute styling here, check it out!
Belt: Vintage
Clogs: Nordic Fusion
Cardigan: Vintage
Tights: Falke (definitely the best tights I’ve ever bought!)
