Good Things Lately…

Presents in the mail! I was lucky enough to get a package from Tokyo last week, what more could I ask for but socks and a scallop cardy?

And my “pen pal” Lotte sent a huge package full of goodies from Amsterdam. It’s always an exciting delivery day when I see she is the sender. I’ll be lucky enough to meet her in person this month when we arrive in Amsterdam! panpiaf

I’ve had a bit of luck lately at the op shops, mainly because I’ve been making a huge effort to duck into them as often as I can. I picked up a pile of vintage doilies.

Hexy Cardy

One of the things I look forward to most about winter is rugging up in lots of layers and pulling out my favourite woollen scarves, socks and cardigans. Every year mum takes on a new winter knitting project, and this year I suggested a hexagon cardigan, inspired by this amazing Tiny Owl Knits Beekeeper quilt I’ve had my eye on for a long time.

And here is what she came up with, in record time, in ALL my favourite colours.

It is beyond good, right? Every now and then the hexies feature florals, bows, cute little animals and even a little skull on my sleeve. I cannot believe how beautifully it turned out. Now I’m REALLY willing the cooler weather to hurry. Kx

Little White Rabbit

My new little tokissi arrived last week! I pre-ordered her so long ago I almost forgot she was coming!

She’s a little bit cute!

I think I like her best because she’s so pastel and pretty. She even has pink eyes! I also chopped off my mint green middies’ hair this weekend and now I like her much more. Next I think I’ll customise her face. Kx

A Very Good Day

You know when sometimes you have funny little things you joke about with your friends? Like saying, “Imagine if we found an original 1972 Kenner Blythe in an op shop ones day!” Yeah, well, that is the ongoing thing Kirbee and I have been joking about since we met last year. It’s kind of one of those things that every Blythe girl dreams about. And then when we started op shopping together a few months ago we’d say it more and more often, creating more and more elaborate stories about how it would happen, how little we’d pay, how we’d fight each other for it (not really) and how we’d just pull one out of a dump bin of bratz dolls and Voila, our very own op-shop Kenner.

Well, yeah….that thing….it KIND OF HAPPENED LAST WEEK! We did a quick stop into salvos on our way home on the off chance of finding a bambi or a cute dress…but instead we quickly discovered THIS in the glass cabinet. Clearly someone knew she shouldn’t be tossed in the bin, but didn’t quite know why.

And this is her, in her original outfit and everything! She is horribly manky. She’s been reglued, rescrewed and completely loved TO DEATH, but surprisingly there is nothing that WRONG with her. And can you believe we paid a measly $30 for this little gem? She was even insultingly labelled as “Parts”, the poor thing!

So her legs and head are a little bit gross, but there’s nothing that we wont be able to fix or replace.

And either way, we love her. And now there’s one less thing on that “do before you die” list. This really isn’t something that happens a lot…or you know, EVER. It really was the best day. Kx

New Storybook Rabbit Goodies

I’ve made a bunch of new things lately I thought I’d share with you here. These little brooches are always super popular at the Finders Keepers Markets but I’ve released the whole range on etsy now for anyone who might have missed out.

There are 16 characters to choose from but this one (the newest) has by far been the most popular! My Moonrise kingdom bunny illustration is perfect on this tiny heart shaped brooch.

I also have been making cute vintage doilies with my illustrations on them! here are a few of my favourites.

And of course it wouldn’t be right to not share a few new plates! It’s so nice having a clean white wall in a bright sun lit room to photograph them on again. Kx

Good Things Lately…

It’s been a little quiet here lately I know, But we’ve been busy readying and moving into a new home. We’ve moved out of Newtown to save some money, and we’ve settled into my nans’ old house in Brighton. I’m loving being here already, in her pretty 1940′s house, with it’s endless picture rails and bright, light rooms.

I even have a little sewing room here!

Last week I got an amazing package from my pen pal (for lack of a better word) Lotte. We were supposed to meet up on my last trip to Amsterdam, but sadly our plans fell through and we didn’t get to meet in person. We instead ended up exchanging post packages every few months, which is SO fun!
