Melbourne Finders Keepers Market

27 April 2012

We had a great time last weekend at the Melbourne Finders Keepers Market, which was held in the beautiful Royal Exhibition Building.

We had a big colourful stall full of goodies by Made By White, Candy Stripe Cloud and The Storybook Rabbit.

We had lots of our new jewellery (the bunny riding a frenchie brooch was the stand out favourite!), stud earrings, necklaces and collaboration ranges.

Candy Stripe Cloud’s beautiful handmade shadow box shelves were popular too!

And lots of Storybook Rabbit plates, brooches and other goodies went to new homes too! We had such a fun time at the markets, thanks everyone who came down and said ‘hi’ or purchased some of our handmade wares! Kx & Lx

Finders Keepers Fun!

8 December 2011

We had lots of fun at the Finders Keepers last weekend, here are some snaps of the best bits!

Made by white goodies!

Candy Stripe Cloud Garden Stakes and colourful chain necklaces!

Super cute Candy Stripe Cloud and Andrea Smith christmas decorations, displayed beautifully with Andrea’s amazing screen printed wrapping paper!

Lots of Storybook Rabbit goodies including brooches, plates, bunting packs, one off ceramic pieces and lolly jars.

Wilfy on a plate, which I kind of threw together at the last minute the week before the market. He was a very popular choice and I sold all the Wilfred plates I had made!

We had lots of creative friends with beautiful stalls, including our stall-neighbour Andrea Smith who was selling prints, hand-printed christmas paper, cards and of course the decorations her and Lynds collaborated on.

Made590 was represented too of course, with some of the most amazing clothing, gifts and gifty pieces.

Our dear friend Mechelle Smitten was the highlight of the zine room! With zines galore, brooches, plates, hand drawn ceramic beauties and other bits and pieces.

Our talented friend Mia aka The Raisin Did It had a fab stall brimming with beautiful kids wear, one off ladies tops (which we all hastily purchased) and lots of fun little bargains.

We are always so happy to be part of The Finders Keepers Markets! We always meet lots of new friends, see old ones once again and make lots of great purchases on the day! A special mention must also go to the lovely Lalita from Me and Oli with her beautiful tailor shop set up (and spectacular range of clothing), The Horse for making PERFECT shoes (which we purchased several pairs of!) and for always being so great to chat to, The lovely folks from So Little Time Co for making such cute jewellery and for sharing bunny stories with me, and our stall neighbours Serpent and Swan for being such nice people to bump into several times an hour. Also thanks everyone who came down to say hi, purchased something on the day, or just made the market the highlight it always is. Kx

What I Wore – purple and navy

29 August 2011

Last week I took advantage of the last bit of cold we’re probably going to get this season (yesterday seemed ridiculously warm!) and wore a new long sleeved dress I got off etsy from this cute little shop. Its pretty 70′s and amazing.

Dress: Vintage from Diet Coke Vintage (see above)

Cape: Asos

Stockings: Jonathan Adler

Hair Bow: op-shop (think it one of those nylon head scarves for covering your curlers!)

Shoes: The Horse. I am currently DROOLING over their new summer sandal colours, which will inevitably be mine after our trip. But do I get Jade, Green or Pink?!

Cat Brooch: Mitchell Rd Antiques, handmade from fimo! I was recently reunited with this guy after thinking he was lost forever, and boy am I glad!

Good things about Sundays

11 July 2011

Eating pancakes in the sun and realising Juno can squeeze through the front fence if she wants to.

Wandering around Roselle Markets and finding this guy. I seriously considered buying him…and now I’m having big regrets I didn’t. I know it’s creepy and I would never buy anything like this “new”, but vintage taxidermy is so amazing and rare to see in person..and he really wasn’t THAT expensive. Sigh.

Coffees in the sun at Picollos in Roselle after wandering around the markets. We also considered checking if Zumbos was open on Sundays but decided against it… for the record though, it is!

Juno claiming the new throw rug we bought at the markets before I could.

Nachos made from left over spaghetti sauce. So. Incredibly. Good.

And finally poached pears in red wine with vanilla paste, cinnamon and brown sugar. Super easy but the best thing ever on a cold night.

hope you all had a lovely weekend too! Kx

What I wore this week

8 July 2011

Another outfit post for your friday. I wore this one to get my car registered! How exciting and glam is my life huh? Although I did manage to score a pile of plates and a vintage dress while killing time in Erskineville which was a total unforeseen bonus to my day. (don’t worry..I’ll pop the dress in a future post).

Years ago Lynds and I went to the Vintage Clothing Markets they had at Paddington RSL (which by some strange coincidence are on this saturday!) but that day we picked up at least 4 or 5 perfect vintage dresses, this being one of them! Strangely all the ones we bought (without trying on) fit perfectly! But this cotton hex print number is probably my fave.

Boots are By Vero Moda, which I got in Berlin. I like them because they look like gumboots but leather.

The cardy is by mum! last winter’s project :)

Belt is by Elke Kramer (from a cute little limited edition range she did for Sportsgirl), if you too managed to scoop up one of these babies 4 or 5 years ago, I hope you love it as much as I do! It’s something I wear every week, but I love pretty much anything she does.

In other news we have paintfully slow internet at the moment which involves a lot of swearing and fiddling and turning off devices to enable other ones to use it. I do feel it is utterly RIDICULOUS how important fast internet has become in our lives, but hey…whatcha gonna do? Kx

Things I’m Loving This Week…

27 June 2011

This photo my friend Sugako sent me of the Blythe Store in Daikanyama, I cant wait to go visit her and see Japan! but Lynds is heading there before me, next week!

New plates.

Bambi planter care of made590, cactus care of bunnings.

Reuniting old friends on our new walls.

My custom made cardy by Nora Knitwear on etsy. Mary is the most lovely person and her knitwear is TO DIE FOR. This is my second purchase.

Juno’s veiny ears in the sunshine, doing what bunnies do best, digging.

Our new round of collaboration jewellery! If you’re in Brissy this weekend ( you lucky thing, I wish I was!) you should definately visit miss Lauren Carney’s stall at The Finders Keepers Market and see it all first hand! Kx

Sydney Finders Keepers

24 May 2011

Were you one of the thousands of people who shuffled through the doors of Carriage works on friday night or Saturday? Did you come down and say hello to us and snap up a brooch, plate, necklace, or knitted bow headband? If not here’s a little recap in photos of what we had on show.

And of course, the purchases made! I snapped up a Ginny and Jude Corsage Brooch (to replace my bunny-chewed one).

this cute hand painted plate by Benconservato, how could I resist such cute bandit bubble blowing bunny for my wall?

And these babies! By the lovely people at The Horse, which I’ve had my eye on for some time now.

Hope you all had as much fun as we did over the weekend, me especially because it happened to coincide with my birthday! yay. But more about that another day. Kx

Sneak Peek Of Market Goodies

6 May 2011

I quick peek of some cute “keep cups” I’ve been decorating for the upcoming Sydney Finders Keepers Market (which is just two weekends away). These combine two of my greatest loves: Coffee and Bunnies (as well as some other cute new characters). I’m pretty happy with how they turned out and also pretty happy that Christina (aka Miss Made590) found the cute cups for me to use! But you’ll have to come down to the market if you want to nab one! Kx

Finders Keepers Favourites

12 December 2010

We had lots of fun last weekend holding our stall at the Finders Keepers Christmas market and boy was it a good one! If you didn’t make it down here are a few highlights from our little set up.

There were some standout favourites at the market that everyone seemed to NEED to get their hands on, like Lyndsay’s Candy Stripe Cloud Blackboard Garden Stakes and Apple Shelf which are both an absolute bargain price for handmade goodness and a perfect gift for anyone, anytime, so not surprisingly they were a sell-out success at the market.

As well as the candy stripe cloud brooches, who all have a personality of their own!

Our new Made By White range also had a great response at the market, with lots of people picking them up and laughing (which is always good!) I especially like the super pug brooch and flower watering can, which we sold lots of!

The cute little trinket boxes I made for the market sold like hotcakes on friday night, as well as all the plates I’d been working on for months leading up to the event. Luckily I have lots of new things still if you missed out, but I think there’s going to be a lot of Storybook Rabbit goodness opened on Christmas morning.

Our free bunting/christmas brooch giveaway was lots of fun and a big thank you to anyone that came down and bought something or expressed their interest in what we do. It’s always really nice to meet the people who comment on our blog, buy from us online, or just come down to the markets to see it all in person. Kx
