New Made by White Jewellery Now Online

14 November 2012

We’ve been busy creating some of our very favourite collectable inspired brooches for you to add to your collection! I took some of mine for a spin this weekend, so I’ve included some snaps of our new pieces accompanying my outfits.

This little bambi is inspired by our favourite collectable little deer friends. Regular Made By White blog readers will know it’s no secret I collect anything deer-like! This little guy is the perfect representation of all of our favourites.

This little flamingo friend is such a colourful addition to our brooch catalogue. He will bring happiness and a splash of colour to any outfit.

This cuckoo clock is another well-known favourite we couldn’t resist adding to this range. With its little deer, bunny and teeny little love bird cuckoos, I think this is my favourite!

These twin swallows are the perfect addition to any collar or coat. We love the combo of blues and reds, as well as their delicate wings, which make them look just like the wall swallows which inspired them.

This mama and baby owl reminds us of the old ticking clocks of the 70′s with their swinging tails and moving eyes. This mother owl will always keep one eye on her little baby, just incase he decides to take flight!

Ah the swan planter! A super collectible little friend indeed. And boy are they getting hard to come by, so snap this one up while she’s here. How could you resist the pastel flowers and soft creamy woodgrain?

And finally this adorable little donkey cart is inspired by our own mums’ collection of these funny little mexican friends, who often have salt and pepper shakers attached to their backs or sometimes a planter in the back. Ours is a little more cute and flowery than some, so maybe you can start your own collection of them here (he might be temporarily sold out while we wait for more delicious little flowers to fill his cart, but he will be back very soon!).

We’ve spent a lot of time laser cutting, painting and gluing these new little friends for you to take home, and we hope you love them as much as we do! Kx

Wardrobe Gems July

3 August 2012

I started a little photo-a-day project last month over on Instagram, basically sharing Wardrobe Gems anyone thought were worth sharing! I stuck to vintage pieces that aren’t necessarily things I wear every day, but things I love dearly. There were a few great people who joined in alongside me including the very lovely Jules from Sconnie and Jam, Janine from Middlemost Clothing, Mia from The Raisin Did It, Donna from Deer Donna, Christina from Made590 and my very lovely friends Kellie and Emma C (a fellow made590 behind the scenes lady).

I thought it would be fun to share mine here for any non-instagrammers!

Yellow floral capelet dress, Glomesh Vest, my favourite Red Riding Hood coat and navy floral dress I got in Amsterdam.

My Brass buckle Belt collection, peter pan collar velvet dress, little floral collared blue dress and my Lang Sterling swan brooch.

Vintage purple patchwork dress, winking bunny brooch, Sterling moving Cuckoo Brooch and Kelly Green line dancer dress.

Vintage zig zag cotton vest, purple floral prairie dress, Czech glass floral brooches, and handmade floral cross stitch scarf.

Miniature Victorian engagement rings, orange gingham embroidered prairie dress, vintage navy nurses cape, vintage fringed clogs (wilfred has since destroyed these. Waaaaa!)

Kirbees Nans’ floral dress, pale blue embroidered 70′s dress, 70′s pastle check coat and pink ric rac dirndl dress.

Mums’ mesh bow brooch, blue daisy ruffle front dress, favourite floral winter dress and favourite summer watering can dress.

3 maxi dresses from Kirbees’ Nan, wooden carved cat brooch, cotton abstract print shirts, and my cross stitch bunny loafers.

Hope you enjoyed a peek into some of my favourite vintage wardrobe bits and pieces! You can check out everyone elses’ under the hashtag #wardrobegemsjuly on instgram! Kx

Washi Tape Housing

16 July 2012

I found the perfect use for my shadow box house which used to keep my little ceramic animals which are currently packed away until we move somewhere a little bit permanent. It was the perfect size to stack all the wash I brought back from Japan and also means I can see all the colours and patterns I have easily. Kx

New Adorable Animal Brooches!

6 March 2012

We’ve been very busy lately, dreaming up some great new things! Here’s the first batch of our little friends, based on some super cute favourite animals of ours. Smug little Fennec foxes, chinchillas in winter outfits (we like to call it a Chinchilly), bears in specs, Ferrets in love & even wrinkly hairless cats! These little guys are sure to find a nice home on your favourite coat or cardigan this winter and beyond.

They are all made with love from wood, perspex and plastic. We even hand paint their tiny eyes and accessories. Each one is a labor of love, and we hope you enjoy these new little friends as much as we did designing them for you all! Keep an eye out this week on our Facebook page, we’re holding some cool giveaways to introduce you all to them personally! In the mean time, check them out HERE and choose a favourite! K & L xx

My Collections: Lace Trimmed Floral Dresses

21 February 2012

Another little sub section in my large dress collection. Lace trimmed dresses are a little weakness of mine (being a huge fan of anything 70′s), especially those that are floral too! My favourites include the apron-like blue number with watering cans print which I bought at mint condition in Roselle, The long sleeve red check and floral borders dress I wore here & which I bought off etsy and lastly the red floral stripe prairie dress I got in Amsterdam in the 9 streets area, at a cute shop called Lady Day. There’s practically one for every occasion and season here. Kx

My Collections: Bunny Brooches

10 February 2012

Another little collection of the brooch kind. Of course my life would hardly be complete without a couple of bunny brooches, right? My favourites are the tiny velveteen bunny with neon bow I got years ago from an op shop and the gold winking bunny, super creepy and super cute (available pretty readily on etsy FYI). Other highlights of the collection include Made By White, Pirdy and The Ever Dazzling originals and Little brown plastic hare I got in Berlin on our first trip. Other bunnies have been gifted by friends, because I’m kinda the bunny girl I guess. Kx

My Collections: Ric Rac Dresses

1 February 2012

Ric rac is one of those amazing pieces of haberdashery that adds character to anything your sew it on. I love pretty much anything to do with ric rac and I think these dresses are a prime example of Ric Rac at it’s best! The navy and yellow floral number I acquired last week off etsy. Just too amazing!  I think it’s my new favourite. The red number with little bumble bee print is also pretty cute and was being sold as an old dress up costume. I guess they didn’t think anyone would wear it everyday. Ha! Little did they know. Kx

Successful Saturday

30 January 2012

Over a year ago I was contacted by a lovely lady called Cobi regarding a collection of vintage crockery she had spent 2 years gathering for her amazing wedding. Needless to say I was more than happy to give these lovely little bits and pieces a 2nd life and on saturday we went over and made the exchange. Little did I know what an amazing collection it was, and I think I nearly had a heart attack unwrapping all the beautiful tea sets, trios and floral saucers she had collected!

Amongst my favourites are these beautiful cake plates!

And this art deco trio, in the most amazing autumn colours.

But by far my favourites are these TO DIE FOR pastel plate sets which I already have plans for. (There was also cup and saucer sets and tiny little pastel tea cups! Ahhhh.)

Cobi was also lovely enough to send me some photos of the plates I bought off her in use on her special day. PRETTY! Kx

My Collections: Souvenir Brooches

18 January 2012

I own lots of brooches, but these are some of my favourites. They all remind me of different places or were purchased with a story behind them. The bikes and windmill remind me of Amsterdam (though they weren’t purchased there, i just always loved things that are dutch inspired) and the cuckoos are so cute. The big silver and gold one (with moving birdy!) went to Germany with me and started many conversations with locals there. It is possibly my favourite brooch ever and I nabbed it on etsy a couple of years ago for around $30. Another favourite is the Porcelain Cat head I got in Germany, which is actually from Paris and used to be an earring. Brooches are so fun to collect! Kx
