New Piggy Back Animal Brooches!

20 March 2012

Well we saved the best till last in our opinion! These super cute animals piggy-backing other animals are one of a kind! Inspired by our love of animal friendships (I’m sure any regular readers will recognise my own pets Wilfred and Juno in there) these little guys are barrels of fun and theres sure to be one that will make you giggle.

This super cute pig and monkey brooch was inspired by THIS hilarious video! We found ourselves singing the song for DAYS afterwards (this is us officially warning you, IT’S CATCHY) and we just couldn’t resist making them into something wearable!

These guys are just a cute little coupling, lemurs and macaws are both so full of character! We’ve handpainted all the tiny details and colours, which we feel makes this one a super special.

This cute Frenchie and Bunny brooch is inspired by my own little fur babies, Wilfred and Juno. I think in a perfect world Juno would love her own personal puppy to ride. For now she’s working on sharing the couch with him, so we’ll see how they feel about each other in a year or two. This sweet little brooch really is two of the most adorable pets, rolled into one super cute piece of jewellery! If you can’t own one as a pet, own this instead.

And lastly this cute tortoise and kitten brooch is inspired by THIS video our friend Sarah introduced us to. And we’re glad she did, because it’s adorable. And here is a funny little brooch you can wear with pride!

We hope you’ve loved all the new friends we’ve introduced you to! Kx

Good Things Lately…

1 March 2012

With such a short last month of summer we’ve been soaking up the sunshine and trying to make the most of the warmth while it’s here (though I am not so secretly willing winter to come asap for wardrobe sake) Heres some fun things we’ve been up to lately.

We visited the kiddy farm with Lynds & Ben on the weekend. This piglet could have fit in our bag….surely.

Nice little bike rides to the park.

Ball and frisbee marathons, often involving several mixed breed puppies chasing Wilfred till he can hardly breathe.

Beach visits (though I haven’t entered the water past my knees at all this season!) to our favourite dog-friendlies on the north side.

Clontarf and Sirius Cove, which are perfect doggy beaches if anyone is interested.

Trying new local cafes (this one was Double Roasters in Marrickville) and sitting out in the sunshine (again, with Wilfy in tow). He’s such well behaved little guy we can never bare to leave him at home on weekends. He has no interest in wandering off, avoids small children and is happiest slouched between the two of us on the cool floor. He’s even learnt to drink rather delicately from a take away cup when places don’t have a bowl for water.

And finally spending some quiet time with Juno before the puppy gets home at night and when the day has cooled down enough for her to get active again.

Even though I’ll be sad to see summer go, we’ve enjoyed this mild (and sometimes WEIRD) weather but I do look forward to dragging out my boots, socks and coats sometime soon! Hope your summer has been as lovely as ours has been. Kx

The Kids Are Alright

13 December 2011

A nice thing that happened last week is that Juno suddenly decided Wilfy wasn’t so bad to be around. Bribed with lots of basil and attention, she finally ventured out of the bedroom to hang out with us.

Then she walked right up to Wilfred…much to his surprise. And sat with him on the rug.

Then they had a little sniff of each other.

and then she decided that yes, actually, he really is the most gross thing she’s ever smelt….

And Wilfy went back to making his own fun with the paper towel roll.

It was a nice little moment while it lasted, and luckily Juno has decided that being with us is much nicer than laying on top of my box of belts…most of the time. Kx

Exciting News…

1 November 2011

I have SUPER exciting news today! I’d like to introduce to you…Wilfred, the newest member of our little family!

Wilfred is a 5 month old French Bulldog who came to live with us through the RSPCA and some very lovely friends of ours who picketed for us to be his new parents with a friend of theirs who was a foster mum to Wilfred. After a week or so of not knowing if he was going to be able to come to us, to say the least we are SO ridiculously thrilled to finally have him here and especially happy about being able to save a puppy who may otherwise have not found a new home that was quite so inviting. Having originally come from a puppy mill you can imagine his first home would not have been fun at all, so we’re doing our best to drown him in love this time round (it’s really not hard, look at that face!).

He’s a gentle and calm little man with no apparent interest in Juno whatsoever. Which is a huge relief and lots of fun. Juno’s slowly adapting to being one of two siblings, but is getting lots of love and reassurance in the meantime. And don’t worry, she’ll always be top bunny in this house!

So far he’s eaten some sticks & explored everything there is to see in the yard.

Slept a lot…(and for the record, he snores like no one I’ve met before!)

Basked in the sun while we drank our morning coffees…

And even took a bath…and loved it!

3 New Made By White Brooches!

6 September 2011

Have you ever seen a slow loris? We encountered this video long ago, and fell instantly in love with them. Of course, we knew we had to make a brooch! And here it is! Complete with laminate scarf and beady plastic eyes!

You may or may not have encountered this cute little creature, he’s called a Capybara and is the largest living member of the rodent family! We were amazed at these fellas being kept as pets in other countries, completely house trained and sleeping on the end of people’s bed like puppies! Obviously, we REALLY want one, but in the mean time we made a brooch dedicated to the cute Capybara (in a cape no less).

And last but definately not least is our little friend Mr Tapir. He’s a funny looking fellow that really made us laugh. They come in lots of different breeds, but our brooch is based of the Malayan Tapir, who has a funny black and white body not unlike a panda. Though of course our Tapir is a little more special, dressed in his very best top-hat.

We hope you like all of the new brooches as much as we do making them!

Stay tuned for new more things very soon too!

Roadtrip Vintage Finds

12 November 2010

I picked up a few lovely things last week. I decided I should resist all temptation and that I really didn’t need any more ornaments! But then when I didn’t find ANY for the first few days, I started to think how disappointed I’d be if I didn’t find something. But then I found this bunny moneybox and a mouse, and a mini teacup set….

And this clock was probably my second favourite thing I got on the trip.  Lambs, bunnies and mushrooms! And the little metal lamb cutout originally lept around when the alarm went off by the looks of it, all kinds of cute.

This little jewellery box has strawberry shortcake looking girls on the front, a ballerina inside and bunnies all around the outside. And it cost me $2.

I also picked up some cute fabrics at various vinnies/salvos etc around the place. These cute sheer curtains were a great find! Deer, bears, bunnies and donkeys?! too cute to leave behind for $3.

And so were these duck and snail combo curtains. If only I had windows with curtain rods!

And I think these were the thing that for me, made the trip all worthwhile. I literally gasped when I found them. Little 70′s style “couples in love” plates by my favourite British china brand Queen Anne! Tonnes of floral, swishy dresses and stapping young lads! And I also managed to pick up two matching floral saucers. All kinds of cute for $5! They are already on my wall.

Oh and this was a last minute find on our way home, an original Hobbytex painting (I know because it was written in old lady handwriting on a piece of masking tape stuck next to the price, $5) ! I only realised later that it was a nativity scene of some description, but how could I resist rabbits, deers AND that donkey! too cute.

And also, I have lots of new plates in the shop today, made from some amazing british china I collected along the way. Kx

Dear, oh deery me!

giantdeers

deers3

Some more recently acquired vintage. I’m sure the fact I have pretty much been living on etsy for the last month has contributed to the fact I have so many new (old) things. The giant flocked deers I just couldn’t resist though, they are SO creepy but so great. And another bunny, just for good measure :) Kx
