Lynds and Bens’ Wedding Fiesta!

19 February 2013

I dont think I’ve ever looked forward to an event as much as I did Lynds and Bens wedding! When they decided they’d get married after 8 years together I was so incredibly happy to see my sister marry her perfect match and let me just say after receiving this save the date…

And this invitation (both designed by the incredibly talented Andrea Smith)…

I’d say there was more than a little anticipation for the big day to finally be here for everyone involved!

Lynds and Ben (and anyone else who volunteered to help) spent weeks making amazing paper flowers, spray painting bottle vases, perfectly matching and making colour coded table wear and creating a huge, colourful mess in their livingroom!

van

Until it was finally the morning of the big day! We loaded giant pinatas, a wall of flowers and millions of other perfect tiny details into the van and set off for Lions Gate Lodge!flowers

Unpacking the table decoration paper flower bundles made by heart flutter. So much effort went into every bloom! And it really showed.giantflowers

There were also plenty of GIANT paper flowers too we spent a few days hot gluing together from layers of tissue and crepe paper, ombre dyed to flower perfection! Ben did a great job on the giant concrete flower bases, which worked a treat when the wind picked up.

And it wouldn’t be a fiesta without MEXICAN FLAGS!setup

And 8 perfectly colour coordinated tables in pink, purple, aqua, cobalt, green, yellow, orange and red. Each with a perfectly scalloped mexican oil cloth centre.backdrop

And as mentioned, the paper flower wall! This formed an amazingly colourful backdrop for the polaroid photo booth run by the very lovely In an Instant photography team, Jess and Seb!benlynds

And here they are, in all their matching perfection! Ben secretly laser cut the buttons on his suit to perfectly match Lyndsays’ 1950′s mauve tulle dress, with the help of a few colour hints by me! He did incredibly well with the whole outfit and looked so dapper in his Hello Kitty bowtie! Lyndsays’ dress was from Forever Vintage, which sells some of the most incredible dresses from the 30′s-80′s. Teamed with her velvet ribbon bow belt we made, melissa red bow wedges and lasercut perspex flower necklace she made herself it was beyond adorable in every way!

The ceremony was short and sweet and before long they were saying I do. I have never seen so many people so happy all at once. I’d have taken better photos but I was too busy crying! It was just so lovely. And then, just like that, they were married.

picnic

After the wedding ceremony there was picnic boxes for all filled with vegan treats like veggie dippers, wraps and pinata cookies! This of course was just the starter for the mexican feast that came later! All the delicious vegan food was by Sprout and Bean, who were so great, and it was all completely DELICIOUS. (if you click that link, you can see their blog on the day too)topper

And the cake! A sheer masterpiece made by a dear friend of Lyndsays. Here’s a little contribution I made for on top of the cake, reflecting them both on their big day!weddingcake And the whole cake itself, all ready for cutting into! How great are all those amazing paper flowers on the smooth white icing?cakecut

And here it is, in its 7 layers of vegan rainbow glory! It was flavoured with orange blossom and had layers of dairy-free white chocolate ganache and tofutti cream cheese. Mmmm.kelllynds

And here are some of the cute polaroids captured on the night! I wore a 1950′s dress I picked up in Amsterdam from my favourite vintage shop Laura Dols.tevkellHow great is that flower backdrop? Jess supplied so many cute dress-ups to use for the photos, we were spoilt for choice! But obviously, I went straight for the bunny!
rings

And a little snapshot of her rings (sorry its not clearer, I had to borrow lots of images off Facebook till we get the real ones! -thanks everyone)! The engagement ring being made by this amazing man, and the rings on the day being a baby bird in a crown for her, a hedgehog for him. TOO cute!

And the shoes! Ben had our mum embroidery these adorable sugar skulls onto a pair of converse for the big day. You might spot them on the invite if you look closely.shoes

And finally the rainbow of smiling faces our family made on the big day. Completely unintentional, but I love this photo! It was truly the most perfect, fun, colourful, amazing day for the two best people I know. Kxrainbow
