Recent Vintage
As mentioned in a previous post, I was given the honour of raiding a friends nans’ wardrobe a few weeks back. I picked out a vast collection of beautiful vintage cotton shirts in an array of colours and prints, all in hardly worn condition and primarily Australian made local labels.

Of course what I was most excited about were the DRESSES. This lady was quite the collector. I came home with a great selection of house coats, summer frocks and two piece wrap skirt and top sets, as well as an adorable peter pan collar black velvet dress! (VERY Wednesday Addams).

By far my favourite was this little gem. Emerald Green, antique pink and yellow floral & a spectacular double collar made from amazingly soft cotton sateen. I can’t wait to have somewhere to wear it!

And then the other day I popped into my favouite vintage shop and snapped up this adorable vintage Dirndl style dress made from pink floral with a smocked waist, brass buttons and white ric rac trimming! And you know how I feel about ric rac!
And finally on saturday I dragged myself out of bed to go to a little vintage pop-up shop happening locally and bagged a few gems including a little wool jacket, lurex cardy and two great vintage skirts. Luck was on my side this day, despite waiting almost 15 minutes for a coffee beforehand!

Hoping you’ve all bagged a bargain or two lately. Kx

Oh my god Kelly, you cannot imagine how badly I’d like to play dressups in your closet!
Once I was really close to acquiring a large vintage collection from an older lady too- a man I worked with had an 80 year-old mum who’d ‘never thrown out an item of clothing’ but had to move into a rest home due to earthquakes. Andrew told me about her THREE ROOMS of clothes, and how she especially loved cotton dresses and 60s coats. He said he’d ask her if I could come over, look through it and buy some, and I was so excited I barely slept for two days until our next shift together. When I got there he said she had called the Red Cross and got them to send a truck around and load it all in. I was so sad!! I still think about the missed opportunity all the time :(

It looks like you got some great stuff. That dress with the double collar is amazing. If I was you I wouldn’t wait to have somewhere to wear it, I would just wear it to go to the supermarket or something.
