Tokyo!

4 June 2012

As you may know, we took a little trip to Tokyo last week for ten days of fun, shopping, eating and WALKING. Tokyo is a big city! I’d compare it to Berlin in terms of the amount of walking we did. But what a trip! What a city. Here are some highlights of the Tokyo we saw.

An amazing cloudy sunrise from my plane seat flying into Tokyo.

The giant bunny head on exhibition in the Le foret building, Harajuku. (sorry I didn’t catch the artists’ name!)

Climbing pastel staircases in Harajuku!

Eating banana caramel cream pie for lunch in Shibuya.

Playing claw machines in late night “sports world”. We won!

Having dessert in a cool little cafe with mattress seating and mirror chandeliers.

The brown sugar parfait I had was to die for.

Drinking giant lemonades in a random Hawaiian cafe, Daikanyama.

The Jon Knox exhibition in a cute store in Daikanyama.

Visiting Ueno Zoo and it’s BEAUTIFUL signage.

And finally seeing a Capybara in person!

Eating a limited edition leopard print Tokyo Banana! (chocolate and banana custard filled sponge cake! Delicious!)

Seeing the brand new Tokyo Skytree (it only opened the day we arrived!).

Eating Japanese crepes! “Fleecy and softened” -thats their claim.

Walking through a sea of people in Harajukus’ Takeshita Street.

Hanging out with old friends most nights.

And eating dinner at Bills Harajuku and getting a taste of home!

Eating delicious noodles at a local japanese hang out.

Seeing the hugeness of Nakameguros’ Don Quijote Shop! Anything and everything you could think of on offer.

Junie Moon Blythe Shop in Daikanyama. I could live here.

And finally hanging out with some cute Frenchies in the French Bulldog Shop Shibuya! (yes, a shop dedicated solely to Frenchies!!) I’ll share more about other shops and shopping related things next time. Hope you enjoyed the highlights! Kx

Hello Kell, we’re hoping to go to Japan but can’t decide between Tokyo or Osaka! Where did you stay in Tokyo?

This all looks amazing Kell! You’ve really increased my desire to go to Tokyo, the Frenchie shop is perfect and I love the attention to detail. Having friends show you around must have really helped as well. Love all your photos! xx

I have really enjoyed seeing all your Japan photos on Instagram, lots of fun!
My Dad goes to Japan a lot and always brings me home weird little things. He did well on the last trip – I received two small tins of lollies, with Moomin characters on them! He didn’t even remember me reading those books as a little one, so it was completely by chance, but I was very happy! I shall have to tell him about the Blythe shop – he will probably have to take someone with him though, he might be a bit embarrassed to be buying Blythe things!!

Wow, it looks like you had such a wonderful time! I would love to go to Japan… Reubs went in highschool and we often talk about taking a trip there. I can’t believe there is a whole shop dedicated to frenchies! Amazing! x
