Daily Outfits

29 February 2012

I Apologise in advance for anyone who follows me on instagram and feels this post is a little “seen it” for them, but for everyone else I’ve been snapping outfits every morning before work (or daily outings) which I’ve found a lot easier than setting up the camera in the boiling hot attic and standing around till I get a couple of good ones for my “What I Wore” posts. I use a cute program called “Picstitch” on my iPhone to throw them all together and highlight different details of my outfits. It’s all a bit of fun, and usually I don’t have time to do a proper shoot of my work outfits, so it’s a good substitute with little time in the morning! Here are some recent highlights. (and if you do want to follow me on instagram your can search for me under “Thestorybookrabbit”) Kx

Sneak Peek

22 February 2012

A little peek a what’s been happening over on the Made By White side of the world. New Brooches! This range will include some native wildlife, funny little creatures and even a brooch inspired by Wilfred and Juno! Well, why not? All these designs will be available from our stall at the Melbourne Finders Keepers Market in April and online for everyone who can’t make it there. We’ll keep you updated! Kx

My Collections: Lace Trimmed Floral Dresses

21 February 2012

Another little sub section in my large dress collection. Lace trimmed dresses are a little weakness of mine (being a huge fan of anything 70′s), especially those that are floral too! My favourites include the apron-like blue number with watering cans print which I bought at mint condition in Roselle, The long sleeve red check and floral borders dress I wore here & which I bought off etsy and lastly the red floral stripe prairie dress I got in Amsterdam in the 9 streets area, at a cute shop called Lady Day. There’s practically one for every occasion and season here. Kx

What I Wore: Mexican Yellow Embroidery

15 February 2012

Here’s the second cute embroidered dress that arrived last week. This ones become a new favourite, the ocre yellow, the heavy embroidery, the little lace panel in the sleeve, there’s nothing I don’t like about this one. Do also note I chopped off my hair last week! It’s very liberating and annoying me already.

Dress: Napkin Items Etsy Shop – super cute styling here, check it out!

Belt: Vintage

Clogs: Nordic Fusion

Cardigan: Vintage

Tights: Falke (definitely the best tights I’ve ever bought!)

Loved Up!

14 February 2012

Because who needs an excuse to bake delicious things and tell the one you love, well…you love them. These are red velvet mini cupcakes with white chocolate ganache, cream cheese frosting, sprinkles, cherry ripe hearts, strawberry slice hearts and anything else I found in the baking cupboard! (for the record, I’ve sampled and they are DELICIOUS too) Happy Valentines Day! Kx

My Collections: Bunny Brooches

10 February 2012

Another little collection of the brooch kind. Of course my life would hardly be complete without a couple of bunny brooches, right? My favourites are the tiny velveteen bunny with neon bow I got years ago from an op shop and the gold winking bunny, super creepy and super cute (available pretty readily on etsy FYI). Other highlights of the collection include Made By White, Pirdy and The Ever Dazzling originals and Little brown plastic hare I got in Berlin on our first trip. Other bunnies have been gifted by friends, because I’m kinda the bunny girl I guess. Kx

Fur Babies

8 February 2012

Some funny animal photos for your day.

Junos’ inquisitive looks from the side of the lounge always make me laugh. I’ve mentioned my obsession with bunny mouths, but this is a little ridiculous. Oh the cuteness!

Sydney park is a hub of puppy excitement and wilfy just loves the long grass.

And relaxing in the duck pond.

And sun baking afterwards.

Happy days! Kx

What I Wore: Embroidery, Spots & Floral

7 February 2012

Last week I got two beautiful embroidered dresses in the mail I nabbed off etsy. I absolutely love crosshatch, embroidery, or anything bright and crazy coloured, so they fit the bill perfectly. This cute little dress was from Young Captive a vintage shop run by Olivia Mew who is also an amazing artist! You can see her work here, in her other etsy shop Fever Few. I also got a beautiful bunting strand with a persian cat, birds and little mice on it, which I’m sure I will post at a later date.

Embroidered Dress: Young Captive

Cardigan: Gorman (I may have visited the outlet on the weekend….so dangerous)

Belt: Asos

Shoes: The Horse

Floral Hair Tie: Found in the flea markets in Amsterdam….sigh….take me back! My lovely friend Megan McKean is travelling europe on her honeymoon at the moment and I’m enjoying seeing her adventures to places I’ve been and some I haven’t. You can see them too, if you like, here. Kx

My Collections: Ric Rac Dresses

1 February 2012

Ric rac is one of those amazing pieces of haberdashery that adds character to anything your sew it on. I love pretty much anything to do with ric rac and I think these dresses are a prime example of Ric Rac at it’s best! The navy and yellow floral number I acquired last week off etsy. Just too amazing!  I think it’s my new favourite. The red number with little bumble bee print is also pretty cute and was being sold as an old dress up costume. I guess they didn’t think anyone would wear it everyday. Ha! Little did they know. Kx
