Successful Saturday

30 January 2012

Over a year ago I was contacted by a lovely lady called Cobi regarding a collection of vintage crockery she had spent 2 years gathering for her amazing wedding. Needless to say I was more than happy to give these lovely little bits and pieces a 2nd life and on saturday we went over and made the exchange. Little did I know what an amazing collection it was, and I think I nearly had a heart attack unwrapping all the beautiful tea sets, trios and floral saucers she had collected!

Amongst my favourites are these beautiful cake plates!

And this art deco trio, in the most amazing autumn colours.

But by far my favourites are these TO DIE FOR pastel plate sets which I already have plans for. (There was also cup and saucer sets and tiny little pastel tea cups! Ahhhh.)

Cobi was also lovely enough to send me some photos of the plates I bought off her in use on her special day. PRETTY! Kx

Good Things Lately…

25 January 2012

I received some adorable dutch flower bike decorations, direct from Amsterdam (with a little organisation from Trev). My fave is the little lawn now growing on the parcel seat on the back.

We bought a food processor, mini cheesecakes were made.

We spent some time waiting….

for coffee and crepes. This place is super cute (and delicious), if in the area check it out.

I spent some time painting…

And making some cute new things for The Storybook Rabbit etsy shop.

And Trev built Wilfy some turf boxes (note dirt moustache). Yes, they are for what you are thinking they’re for, when they’ve grown in a bit.

And miss Juno spent time doing what she does best. Sitting and eating with her belly overhanging her legs. (isn’t she just gorgeous though?)

You might have noticed from these photos I’ve spent some time on instagram lately. What a fun little thing it is. If you want to see countless photos of fur babies and bunny stuff, do find me there under “thestorybookrabbit” so we can be instafriends. Kx

What I Wore: Green and Purple

20 January 2012

I got this super cute vintage handmade skirt the other day at the red cross shop in Newtown, for $10! I’d had my eye on in a “do i really need another skirt” kind of way, but obviously it was meant to be, on sale no less.

What I wore:

Vintage floral skirt – the red cross shop, king street Newtown (great for cheap but not usually amazing vintage)

Shoes: The Horse

Necklace: Elke Kramer

Head Scarf and Belt : Vintage

My Collections: Souvenir Brooches

18 January 2012

I own lots of brooches, but these are some of my favourites. They all remind me of different places or were purchased with a story behind them. The bikes and windmill remind me of Amsterdam (though they weren’t purchased there, i just always loved things that are dutch inspired) and the cuckoos are so cute. The big silver and gold one (with moving birdy!) went to Germany with me and started many conversations with locals there. It is possibly my favourite brooch ever and I nabbed it on etsy a couple of years ago for around $30. Another favourite is the Porcelain Cat head I got in Germany, which is actually from Paris and used to be an earring. Brooches are so fun to collect! Kx

Juno’s New Favourite Spot

17 January 2012

By the (preferably open) window, on top of my china cabinet. Cleverly from this point in the house, she can oversee all goings-on and is out of reach of all puppies. She even carries her carrot in her mouth and hops up to eat it here. This spot has only recently become available, after we moved a lamp which then became a step up and I cleared a space to take photos on my cabinet. I fear it has now been claimed for good, but really, what’s cuter than this? Kx

What I Wore – Green and Pink

13 January 2012

While we were away recently I picked up this beautiful little Austrian dress from Nefarious Rabbit in Berry. I have a soft spot for anything from the general vicinity of where we visited in europe (and floral, always with the floral!), so this was a cute addition to the collection of bits and pieces I picked up in Germany and Amsterdam.

Dress: Nefarious Rabbit Vintage

Belt: Asos

Shoes: The Horse (on sale right now!)

Scarf: vintage

Necklace: Used to be mums!

My Collections: Hankies

11 January 2012

This year I thought I’d start something new for the blog and start posting about my many collection of things. I do have a lot of fun and pretty stuff, and I thought it could be fun to share some of it here with you in a somewhat organised way.

Last post I mentioned how I’d picked up some new hankies for my collection and now here it is.

The kitties are probably one of my favourite ones I have, and I especially love kids hankies because they are so cute and fun. But I also love 70′s floral (anything) so I hold quite a few of those ones as well. Sometimes you find really special super soft hankies which have been loved and treasured for years, and despite quite a few people pointing out to me they were probably once full of snot, I like them anyway! Kx

Summer Holiday

10 January 2012

We’ve been holidaying on the south coast and enjoying the sunshine for the last week. We’re feeling rejuvenated, happy and not quite ready for the reality of everyday work. Here’s some snaps of the things we did, places we saw, and just of the general beauty of summer!

Wilfy enjoyed the huge backyard at the holiday house.

And fish and chips at Currarong beach.

And hanging out the car window, EVERYWHERE we went.

Getting VERY sandy.

And floating around in the water to cool off.

We enjoyed Bbq’s at the beach.

Walking around small beachy towns, like Kiama.

I particularly enjoyed vintage shopping in Berry at Nefarious Rabbit (where I scored the cutest little dress!) and Milton at Nikki B’s (pictured above), where amongst other things I snagged:

some beautiful new crockery.

I also op-shopped Nowra, Ulladulla and pretty much anywhere else we went and ended up with some cute little hankies to add to my collection. And Wilfred found a prize stick in the parking lot.

And back at our holiday house, I stole some vintage floral linens that were too good to be stuck in an old cupboard!

I hope you all got some nice holiday time over christmas spent doing all your favourite things with all your favourite people, like mine was. Kx
