Good Things Lately…Christmas!

30 December 2011

I realise now I rudely never wished you all a Merry Christmas last week. Unfortunately as lovely as christmas is, it’s also one of the busiest times in all aspects of life, so alas, my yuletide greetings went by the wayside. So apologies, but I hope you truly had a great one! Here are some little highlights from our festive season so far.

Our custom portrait by Miss Lauren Carney turned up in time to be gifted to my boy for christmas. We are so impressed by this girl’s talent and are in love with our little piece of art created by her (hey, it’s even on the wall already!). It’s a loose documentation of our last two years together (we celebrated our anniversary this month too), including icons from places we’ve visited, the kids and other cute stuff.

Lynds gave me an AMAZING garland by confetti system I’ve been drooling over for a few months now and I must say I do think it looks rather good on our hallway wall.

But lets face it, nothing will beat this gift from Trev. My new bike!! It’s by Melbourne company Papillionaire and I LOVE IT to death.

Custom Storybook tees made for some special little boys I know, I’m told they went down well on Christmas day.

The Peanut butter cheesecake I baked for christmas day. This baby contained two blocks of lindt chocolate (one in the topping, one in the base) and almost half a jar of peanut butter in the middle section. To say the least it was decadent, but amazing.

The fur kiddies also enjoyed Christmas, Wilfy spent a lot of time chewing sticks from the garden, possibly one of his favourite past times.

And Juno barged her way into his bed one morning, much to Wilfy’s surprise and excitement.

We’re taking a little break over new years to spent some time at our family beach house (with both the fur kiddies -eek!). We’re looking forward to not working, laying on the sand and escaping Sydney for a little while (even though we love you!).

A big thank you to everyone who reads our blog and for your continued support of Made By White, The Storybook Rabbit and Candy Stripe Cloud, it would all be pointless without you and we appreciate your input! See you all in 2012 K & L xx

Little Things

15 December 2011

It’s been a very long and boring week, so I’m sorry I have nothing super exciting to mention just yet. It’s been a week of packing endless orders (did we mention our Made By White super SALE is on till friday night only -get in quick!) & countless trips to the post office.

A week of puppies waiting patiently for you to find two minutes to throw their toy.

A week of bunnies hiding in boxes waiting for the warmth to come back.

And sometimes when it’s a week like this AND you have to go grocery shopping, it’s the little things (literally and metaphorically) that give you a thrill. We bought miniature penne (something we eat quite frequently in the regular sized form).

And made our favourite cherry tomato, basil, bocconcini and pine nut pasta. It was a highlight AND delicious. Kx

The Kids Are Alright

13 December 2011

A nice thing that happened last week is that Juno suddenly decided Wilfy wasn’t so bad to be around. Bribed with lots of basil and attention, she finally ventured out of the bedroom to hang out with us.

Then she walked right up to Wilfred…much to his surprise. And sat with him on the rug.

Then they had a little sniff of each other.

and then she decided that yes, actually, he really is the most gross thing she’s ever smelt….

And Wilfy went back to making his own fun with the paper towel roll.

It was a nice little moment while it lasted, and luckily Juno has decided that being with us is much nicer than laying on top of my box of belts…most of the time. Kx

What I Wore – The Raisin Did It

9 December 2011

This little what I wore is dedicated to our lovely friend Mia at the Raisin Did It. She made this beautiful little top (along with a couple of other spectacular little numbers) for the Sydney Finders Keepers and we were so glad to not have to try to squeeze into her kids clothes anymore! Hopefully she will have a couple left for purchase in her etsy shop soon, I’ll keep you posted!

The Raisin Did It Collage Top: made from vintage and japanese fabrics, handpicked, coordinated and made by Mia herself! How could I resist this little one with embroidered birdies on the bib!?

Vintage Mocassin Boots: from etsy

Cardigan: Op shop

Necklace: So Little Time Co, another favourite purchase from the markets. All hand painted and super cute!

Finders Keepers Fun!

8 December 2011

We had lots of fun at the Finders Keepers last weekend, here are some snaps of the best bits!

Made by white goodies!

Candy Stripe Cloud Garden Stakes and colourful chain necklaces!

Super cute Candy Stripe Cloud and Andrea Smith christmas decorations, displayed beautifully with Andrea’s amazing screen printed wrapping paper!

Lots of Storybook Rabbit goodies including brooches, plates, bunting packs, one off ceramic pieces and lolly jars.

Wilfy on a plate, which I kind of threw together at the last minute the week before the market. He was a very popular choice and I sold all the Wilfred plates I had made!

We had lots of creative friends with beautiful stalls, including our stall-neighbour Andrea Smith who was selling prints, hand-printed christmas paper, cards and of course the decorations her and Lynds collaborated on.

Made590 was represented too of course, with some of the most amazing clothing, gifts and gifty pieces.

Our dear friend Mechelle Smitten was the highlight of the zine room! With zines galore, brooches, plates, hand drawn ceramic beauties and other bits and pieces.

Our talented friend Mia aka The Raisin Did It had a fab stall brimming with beautiful kids wear, one off ladies tops (which we all hastily purchased) and lots of fun little bargains.

We are always so happy to be part of The Finders Keepers Markets! We always meet lots of new friends, see old ones once again and make lots of great purchases on the day! A special mention must also go to the lovely Lalita from Me and Oli with her beautiful tailor shop set up (and spectacular range of clothing), The Horse for making PERFECT shoes (which we purchased several pairs of!) and for always being so great to chat to, The lovely folks from So Little Time Co for making such cute jewellery and for sharing bunny stories with me, and our stall neighbours Serpent and Swan for being such nice people to bump into several times an hour. Also thanks everyone who came down to say hi, purchased something on the day, or just made the market the highlight it always is. Kx
