What I Wore – purple and navy

29 August 2011

Last week I took advantage of the last bit of cold we’re probably going to get this season (yesterday seemed ridiculously warm!) and wore a new long sleeved dress I got off etsy from this cute little shop. Its pretty 70′s and amazing.

Dress: Vintage from Diet Coke Vintage (see above)

Cape: Asos

Stockings: Jonathan Adler

Hair Bow: op-shop (think it one of those nylon head scarves for covering your curlers!)

Shoes: The Horse. I am currently DROOLING over their new summer sandal colours, which will inevitably be mine after our trip. But do I get Jade, Green or Pink?!

Cat Brooch: Mitchell Rd Antiques, handmade from fimo! I was recently reunited with this guy after thinking he was lost forever, and boy am I glad!

Trippin’..

25 August 2011

My boy and I will soon be heading off on a trip to Europe, to visit lots of places I’ve never been to! I am so ridiculously excited, and it’s less than two weeks till we go. We’ll be checking out the following cities:

Amsterdam….

London…

Paris….

And switzerland!

And fingers crossed we might even fit it a quick hello to our old friend Berlin, who will hopefully be a lot warmer this time around.

If you have any “must see” places you think we might like, I’d love to hear from you! Or any great places to stay, eat, drink and especially to shop…again, I’d love any tips you or your friends might have! And when I get back, I’ll give you mine! Deal?

All photos via Pinterest, except the last one, thats mine :) Kx

Baking

24 August 2011

Last week I made a batch of lemon curd, which was easier than I thought it would be. I used this recipe which I just found on google. I then made cupcakes from scratch and used frozen raspberries the ones I didn’t fill with lemon curd later. They were good!

And luckily we now have an abundance of cupboards in our new place, which means plenty of room for a “baking section” to keep it all together in one place. How very domestic! Kx

What I Wore – red and yellow

23 August 2011

Last week I wore one of my new dresses which arrived in the post. It’s a Lanz Original (one of my new fave vintage brands) and I bought it from a lovely little etsy shop called Quite Frightening, along with two other cute dresses (and there are more there right now I’d love to get my hands on!). I love the bows down the back and its a perfect fit. She also sells really cute handmade things, and even gifted me with an adorable leather bow bracelet!

Dress: Lanz Original Vintage from Quite frightening

Yellow Cardy: (yes, another one…I know, obsessed!) from op-shop, but originally by sportsgirl.

Yellow Dot Socks: gifted from the lovely miss made590 from Melbourne’s Obus store (my advice is don’t bother with their website, it’s beautiful but completely useless and FRUSTRATING!!!)

Golden Heart Belt: DJ’s outlet at Birkenhead Point.

Red Leather Oxfords: Golden Ponies

Nails: Chi Chi, OPI and Sportsgirl (the sportsgirl one has already rubbed off – dont bother!)

You may also notice my Cabybara brooch, which is somewhat of a sneak peek at our new brooches we’re designing over at Made By White! It was complete coincidence it matched my outfit perfectly, I swear :)

Sunday

22 August 2011

Snapshots from our windy, cold, wet sunday drive in search of tea and scones. Stanwell Park is lovely and contains all the essentials: a cute art gallery which holds works by lovely local people and talents such as Lynds’ long-time friend Liz McKay, a cute little antique shop, a cafe that serves afternoon tea (and crumble to die for!) and a few other bits and pieces, but really what more do you need for a lazy Sunday afternoon (other than a lovely man to share it all with)? We stopped on the way home to snap some ships in the distance and a picture of my outfit but sadly the wind stole to spotlight and made my hair mega crazy. Next time! Kx

Recent Vintage Finds

18 August 2011

Some recent op-shop finds. These amazing original 1950′s (I think?) cottons. This first is a beautiful border print, the second is tiny birds in a bramble, and the third is the most perfect mustard floral! Each piece is just enough for a cute little dress, for only $5! meant to be, no?

This super cute tartan wool blanket by Macpherson, from the Murray clan! The most amazing jewel tones, mint condition. $5.

And these cute floral hankies, three shades of amazing. $1 for all three.

I’m trying hard not to buy “clutter” so I’ve not even searched for deers or bunnies or trinkets of late. But I did pick up some spectacular plates, destined for big things! Kx

Follow Store

17 August 2011

On sunday we paid a little visit to Surry Hill’s newest super cute shop, Follow. Brimming with boutique giftware, fun jewellery (including a little Made By White selection) and lovely clothing by local brands like Me and Olimade590Kindling and Myrtle and Dove (oh my goodness, the most amazing tapestry pocket skirts!), this place has it all. Incase you haven’t heard about it, Follow shop is the creation of Brooke and Sarah of The Finders Keepers who have also just returned from an amazing trip to several renegade fairs in the USA (you can read about their adventures here).

Follow shop is a wonderland full of cute displays, unique goodies and things you wont see everywhere! While I was there, I snapped up a Whiskers Lane bow clip, Dutch Door Press Teatowel, a set of Sarah McNeil postcards and a cute little bike-riding animal card  that the girls picked up on their recent trip. There are a million things I could have bought if we hadn’t just decided we are jetting off to Europe in less than a month! (YAY!!)

Follow is located on Cleveland St in Surry Hills and is open Wednesday-Sunday. You can find more links here and keep an eye out for their online store, coming soon! A bit thanks to Brooke for the shop photos, because silly me, forgot my camera! Kx

What I Wore and Another Giveaway!

16 August 2011

Here’s another Giveaway to brighten your week! We’re giving you all the chance to win this super cute bunny girl brooch from our collaboration range with Lauren Carney! I wore mine with a vintage cotton wrap dress dress I bought years ago (I’m completely obsessed with vintage ric rac trim, on ANYTHING at the moment) and simple jade cardy my mum bought gave me a couple of weeks ago. I find wooden jewellery really easy to wear as its always a neutral shade and you dont have to match it to anything. I was thrilled when Lauren told us she was designing a bunny girl brooch because she knew I was rabbit obsesessed, and it did not disappoint! I love it!

Leave a comment here and tell us why you’d like to win and I’ll draw the winner on thursday morning. Goodluck everyone! Kx

Hey everyone, the competition is now closed and the winner is Kitty and Kitch! YAY! i’ll be in contact soon :) thanks everyone for entering and your lovely compliments about everything we do! xx

Gardeners R Us!

15 August 2011

Some photos from our gardening adventure yesterday. We planted some flower boxes for our front windows where we (and Juno) have taken to sitting in the sun every weekend to eat breakfast. We also planted some herbs for our patio after a little trip to Gardens R Us, which is a great garden centre in Kingsford Lynds told me about who also happen to serve Toby’s Estate coffee at their cafe (this is always a drawcard for us)!

Unfortunately Juno ate the parsley almost quicker than I could plant it, so all the herbs will now be going on the top shelf of the plant stand! She was also a little unsure of last weekend’s project, the wire fencing trev put up which now stops her squeezing through the fence and wandering down the street (oh and she wandered!). Hope your weekend was as lovely and productive as ours. Kx

What I Wore

12 August 2011

Mustard Cardigan (Another one) from Urban Outfitters.

Floral playsuit I bought last week for $9 from Target! Who can say no to cute floral for that price? (although I had forgotten how annoying it is to wear a jumpsuit type thing! My 5 year old memories all came flooding back!)

Vintage Silk Bowtie belt from op-shop.

Corsage Brooch by Ginny and Jude (my second one, Juno ate the first!!)

Magenta suede ballet flats bought from some outlet place (brand has worn off).

Did anyone else have a panic moment last week when that warmth hit us? I don’t feel I’ve had nearly enough winter yet, or enough time to wear all my boots and knits! Kx
