Recent Vintage

29 October 2010

Some recent additions to the over-run shelves of my home. These amazing vintage miniature flower pots are possibly my new favourite thing. I think because I’ve never seen anything like them and the tiny glazed scalloped pots are so damn cute. They aren’t in fabulous condition, but I imagine thats because some little old lady had them sitting on her windowsill for her entire life, till her grown up children tossed them in the vinnies bag and I snapped them up for $1 each!

I also found this fabulous little siamese cat from Paradise. Go figure.

I found these babies on etsy and they are rather adorable! I think they are a vintage Valentines gift but why in gods name can’t we buy things this cute for Valentines Day now!?

Another owl, because he was $2, so why not.

And this isnt vintage, but its new. My boy brought it back from Germany for me, and its pretty darn cute! But very strangely,  the google translation for the text on the mug is “stay faithful” which i’m not sure is a threat or a promise. haha!

And these are my new favourite bunny friends! They have so much character and I think they are japanese.

Well I’m off for the weekend to op-shop my way to melbourne (and back) with my boy, I cant believe its taken me this long to do really, I’ve always wanted to do an op-shop roadtrip, so its most exciting for me! Hopefully I’ll return with a swag full of dream-goodies to share with you all next week! Kx

26 October 2010

Happy Halloween – we hope you all have some spooky things planned this year!

Curious Portraits

25 October 2010

This is one of the greatest animal-related etsy shops I’ve found! Curious Portraits is based in New York (where else) and is the work of one lovely lady Lisa Zaldor, who likes painting dogs, cats and now very curious looking woodland and Old stuffed Steiff animals (who could not like this girl!?). I am also loving her halloween inspired works more and more every time I look at them. Probably because they are produced using all the colours I love (acid green, yellow, teal, red, orange).  You can read about how she produces her work here on her blog which is called “Studio Bingo” after her puppy. Now, I’m off to find some wall space for that bunny print! x

Mint Condition Indeed

The lastest object of my affection, so incredibly perfect I couldn’t not try it on and then when it fit like a glove, well…some things are just meant to be. I snapped it up from Mint Condition Vintage in Roselle, which is a super cute shop with really beautiful vintage dresses from all eras. Theres a nice little review of the shop on Two Thousand, here. Now please Mr sunshine, come out and play so I can wear it! Kx

Frankie hearts Storybook (and vice versa)

22 October 2010

frankieimg

Some very exciting news for me this week, two of my little lovelies were featured in Frankie Mag, which is pretty much my favourite magazine ever and the only mag I buy regularly without fail! Which also means I’ve put a lot of new stuff in the Storybook etsy shop as well :) You can check out the latest and greatest here. And a big thanks to the Frankie ladies for the lovely words about my work. Kx

Another good reason to love Melbourne

18 October 2010

There are so many good reasons to visit Melbourne (or live there) I’ve just found another one (one week too late for our visit) – the cutest vegan cupcake shop there is – It’s called Mister Nice Guy and it has the best site as well AND Check out these flavours AND they deliver AND it’s animal friendly which of course is the best part!!

Why, oh why can’t we have one of these in Sydney?

Finders Keepers Fun Times

13 October 2010

shed

We have just returned from a great weekend in Melbourne doing the very first Finders Keepers Market at Docklands. There was lots of people and perfect weather, which always makes for a great atmosphere and fun times had by all! The Made By White stall was looking as bright and fancy as always, with our deer friend blowing bubbles across the backdrop!

The Storybook Rabbit was right next door, packed full of all the goodies I have been lovingly creating for months.

plates

I made teatowels, puppets, brooches, porcelaine necklaces & framed tiles, but when people came, they came for the plates! I must say I did feel a little sad saying goodbye to some of these, but they all went to good homes in the end.

We were very happy to see some of our friends at the market too! Sal and Bec are some of the nicest gals you’ll ever meet and had a super cute assortment of pretty things from Sally’s online store Georgie Love, which we love too.

Of course the girls from Made590 were there right next to us, with their cool birdhouses and apple tree clothing racks none the less!

And this is the super cute Lark stall, Alison had beautiful daisy lane swap cards, Belle and Boo goodness and most importantly, the tastiest LOLLIES at the whole event!!!

Speaking of tasty, Beatbox Kitchen was also there and kept us fed both days. I had the best Schnitzel wrap of my life from here.

And while Raph cooked us food, his partner Beci Orpin created this amazing installation over at the Frankie stall! Which I just want to steal and hang straight on my wall AS IS. Amazing.

All in all, we had such a great time being around other “creatives” and meeting so many lovely people. Thanks to anyone who came and purchased our goodies or just stopped by for a chat! Kx

Melbourne Finders Keepers THIS WEEKEND!

7 October 2010

Both The Storybook Rabbit and Made By White will be contributing to the Finders Keepers Markets in Melbourne this weekend and we are SO excited! This month i’ve been busily making new brooches, plates and a selection of other cute things like teatowels, character puppets and flags for the Storybook stall!

As well as all this, we’ve been gluing about a million of our new Made By White studs, which are always so popular. We have also made a whole heap of brooches, necklaces, hairpins and buttons! And for the first time we’ll have some really cool rings too!

Hope to see you all on the day, please come down and say hello, it’s sure to be an amazing event and we are so happy to be able to there! Full info on the market is available through the FK website here. Kx
