30 June 2010

This week has (for us) been a week of cuTe overload – as you could guess we are always looking out for cute animals – Not dogs and cats but unusual animals ones we would love to have come live with us! Here are a few of the best!

This shy walrus, don’t you just want to cuddle him!!

This video of a hedgehog eating a carrot – we just laughed and laughed… Wish we could have hedgehogs as pets in Australia!!

And last but not least this amazing Transformer Owl – how fantastic and magical (fast forward the video to about 1 min)

elephantHere’s a sneak peaks at some of the new jewellery we’ve been working on this week in anticipation of next weekends’ Brisbane Finders Keepers Market. Themes include animals dressed in their finest (felt) capes and hoods, some new circus friends (with pom-pom hats) and a few more surprises we’re working on as we speak! Hope to see you all in Brissy next weekend.

Inside A Black Apple

17 June 2010

I was very excited to see The Black Apple’s Emily Martin has put out a new book on paper dolls! Available for pre-order here which I will be doing very shortly. I’ve been a fan of The Black Apple since my first etsy encounter where I purchased numerous prints in one hit and I still have them hanging on my walls today! One thing that’s really cool is seeing how much her style and technique has really developed over the years, along with her growing fame (she has even appeared on Martha Stewart)!

Anyway I must say the recent work she has done for her “Lost on the Midway” exhibition has been really AMAZING. Here are a few of the pieces which really made me “Aww”.

Lost on the Midway

I think I love this group photo the best, she worked on several smaller pieces for the exhibition like the super cute siamese dolls, ink drawings and pencil sketches. Sigh. So much pretty! Check out Emily’s blog “Inside a Black Apple” for more inspirational goodness. Kx

Juno update

14 June 2010

Some random Juno photos because I got her desexed last week and she’s been even more mischievous than usual, pulling her stitches out on the first day & gorging herself on basil (guilt-fed to her by me).

Except for when the heater is on and her favourite spot on the couch is free, she is then more than happy to sit looking like a little puff ball of velvety fur and just enjoy the heat.

juno4Mum made me a mini chain scarf for my birthday, it was meant to be for my ceramic deers but I couldn’t resist trying it on Juno for size. She basically just tried to eat it the second it was on, as you can tell from the photo. But if you like it, you can get a person-sized scarf at the winterland markets we’re doing next month, mum’s been very busy knitting and hand-dying some really great colours and these babies sell out pretty quickly! Kx

Brisbane here we come!

Autumn Winter Finder Keepers

We are coming up to Brisbane later this month for the Finders Keepers! Yay we are so excited and happy to be a part of their Brisbane Markets! Sooooo Brisbane people – what’s cool up there?? What should we do? what should we see? We haven’t visited in years so would love to know what we should checkout while were are there for a few days? Any good cafes? Shops? Areas? We need to know so we can visit them – we don’t have much time but want to see everything! We also still need to find a place to stay so any suggestions there are welcome too!

See you all there! (invite your friends)
