In my opinion, one of the best (or possibly the only good thing) about winter is that you get to wear scarves, boots and coats. Which is a great thing for me, because I own an absolute abundance of all three. These are my two latest additions to the scarf category, a green chain scarf knitted by mum (she actually pulled apart an old jumper we bought at an op-shop and re-knitted it!! how clever can you get?) and this AWESOME fox stole scarf Lynds bought back from the UK for me from Lazy Oaf. I have long been a fan of The Black Apple after finding her lovely prints on Etsy a few years ago. I couldn’t possibly resist her latest offerings, this triple pack of mini notebooks (one grid, one blank and one lined!) and lovely valentine postcards. Her products are always so beautifully packaged and she always includes super cute extras in with your order (like the silhouette bookmark I got with mine). As well as her amazing stationary, she also produces top quality prints of all her gorgeous artworks. If only I had a few more walls! K x

Etsy is a wealth of loveliness and I must say I’m slightly addicted to trawling through its many pages of talent. One of my latest purchases which I’m truely in love with are these beautiful prints by Mon Petit Fantome. But wait, what’s this…?

A beautiful limited edition hand bound print-book of gorgeous melancholic creatures? Say it isnt so! How could I resist? I mean really, does it get much cuter? Now to find a space for the prints! K x
I’ve lost count of how many Threadless tees we have! they are fantastic have been a fan since very early on. I just red in their newsletter this morning that entries are nearly open for their second cake making competition where you have to bake and decorate a cake based on one of the Threadless tshirt designs. I first thought this was quite intimidating as baking (unlike my mum) is NOT my specialty. Although having looked through last years entries I think I could give it a fair go and make something good!! These were a few of my favourites.

I might have a good at making one? – although I have no idea how I will ever choose my favourite design from this year !
One thing that did piss me off while visiting Top Shop in London recently was the fact that they were selling a tshirt that blatantly ripped off a classic threadless design. Of course the original is much better but it just annoys me that they can get away with it !! The rip offs are created by a “designer” called Newbreed Girl and they have done this on more than one occasion (including the impossible love design seen above as a cake).

After a little research I found a great list of continuing Threadless rip offs on you thought we wouldn’t notice. Nice to see someone is watching all the copycats out there!! I’ve seen so many Threadless rip offs in the last few years at market stalls around Sydney, it’s so shit!!
You can check out all the info about the Threadless cake competition on the Threadcakes website.
Stand by for my entry! Lx
Well I usually like my animals alive – but so its just not even possible to see unless you travel to the ends of the earth and even then you are not guaranteed to get a glimpse. I would love, love, love love to go to Antarcica and see Emperor Penguins but until I win the lottery I’ll probably have to make do with the stuffed one I saw at the Natural History Museum in London. Another really cool thing we found there was an extinct GIANT SLOTH !!! How amazing, I had no idea they had even existed, and we are very big fans of sloths here at Made by White.

After quite a big search through the museum I found my new favourite animal the Slow Loris, I fell in love after seeing this video and I just want one!! Again better when its alive but hey I don’t think we have these little guys here either, just possums that don’t like being scratched on their bellys.

Some animals we did see alive and well were deers and squirrels, I wanted to keep one of each and take them home, they are much better than possums and kangaroos!! The deers lived on the grounds of a Castle in Knole Park just out of London, they just roam around happily and are quite tame (some of them). The little squirrels we found playing around in the Buckingham Palace Gardens, they were only interested in you if you had some nuts to share with them but were super cute. Lx

I very recently spent 2 weeks in London – I visited nearly every store I could while we were there and I think by far my favourite was Ryantown, the blog obviously does it no justice. I knew of Rob Ryan before I went to London but apon visiting his store I fell in love with everything in there!!

The outside of Ryantown – there is a flower markets in the street on Sundays selling lots of beautiful flowers and plants (for a fiver only a fiver!)

Lovely kids tees, printed glasses, small papercuts, books, cushions, tiles (of which i now have a few) beautiful large framed papercuts (which i couldn’t fit in my luggage to bring home) and other lovely things.

The entrance (to the right of this photo) has a mural on the wall which was just stunning, I am also the proud owner of a “make your own” Rob Ryan screen printed skirt, I’ll have to get help with that one.

After 2 visits to the store – the selected tiles – I so want to tile my whole bathroom with these, they are just beautiful !! Lx
