The Best Thing That Happened Today

23 June 2009

Slow Loris Drawing

Kell turned up at my place and she had drawn these AMAZING little Slow Loris drawings (she may have noticed my recent obsession with these super cute creatures?). We may have to make him into a brooch I think. I still want one as a pet, shame we can’t have cool animals like this for pets in Australia!

We have also discovered another animal that is much better than a possum, it’s called a Tarsier, I want one of these too! This is a great video, I love the way he chews – too cute!

Sharpie Pens

Sharpies

This is my Sharpie collection – what did we ever do without them, Artline texters boo! Is it possible to have too many Sharpies? The answer to this is NO. Everytime I visit Office Works I’m confronted with the question of do i need a new Sharpie? They always place them right near the checkout so that while you are waiting this question crops into your head. The answer to this is YES I do! Hence how I ended up with so many! Lx

This toy shop had the cutest display in the front window and I had to take a photo for lynds because they had SO many golliwogs! Though I must say I was quite partial to the giant mushroom stool and red baby grand piano! Kx

Funny Cockatoo

In Leura we went to this really cute little chocolate cafe and while sitting there I couldn’t resist taking a photo of this hilarious cockatoo that had stolen someone’s waffle outside! He ate the entire thing without sharing it with his friend.

Here is what we ate at the cafe. Mmm. Kx

Vintage in Leura

21 June 2009

Today we went to Leura and looked through a lot of Vintage shops. All in all I was fairly disappointed as most of the stores were full of new shit that looked old or really crap second hand junk that was really overpriced. But here are a few really beautiful vintage things I found but could not afford.

This amazing ceramic polar bear was so evil, he’d be so great at your front door, though at around $500, I guess thats a pretty expensive door stop.

p1000292

I LOVE these old wall seagulls. They were really beautifully painted. Though at $750 not an easily made purchase! Ironically our mum has a collection of the deer wall vases next to them which if I sold, I could probably afford these :)

And this was about the creepiest thing I saw all day, it was this weird metal sculpture of a kid on a pony. He looks dead, I was a little freaked out. Kx

Liz McKay Exhibition Opening

Liz McKay

Liz McKay

On Friday night we attended the opening of the latest exhibition by the super talented Sydney artist (and good friend of mine) Liz McKay. Her paintings are just beautiful, so stylish and original and I know how much work goes into each one so I can appreciate them even more. The exhibition runs until the 2nd of July so make sure you check it out at Trevor Victor Harvey Gallery in Seaforth.

Football Players (and their many, many fans)

Let me just say, if you find this sexy, you are retarded. I literally shuddered when I looked at this photo and not surprisingly this is one of the first images that came up when I googled “football players”. This is exactly the crap that makes me hate them so much! Because: 1.they are fugly and 2. idiots worship them for shit like this. Kx

Amazing Vintage Granny Square Scarf

17 June 2009

granny scarf

While browsing though a local op-shop the other day I came across this amazing scarf made from miniature granny squares!  It is by far one of the coolest things I’ve picked up in an op-shop. So much work has gone into it and it is such beautiful colours, I literally gasped when I found it. K x
